August 4, 200917 yr I would never do it but I sure would have enjoyed being in the church. Go for it!
August 4, 200917 yr That it was, and I can guarantee you that in no way was that a sign of disrespect. I can not even believe that you think dancing is some kind of sin in a church. What if the reception was held in the church? Would that be disrespectful? Kids dancing while putting on an event in a church? I mean what about when ministers tell jokes in church? Just trying to get the whole picture of where you stand on things in church. No, you can't guarantee that. To both questions: In the church hall? No. In the church? YES Jokes are fine as long as it's confined to the message of the sermon, so long as the joke is tasteful. What would the point be to just stand there and tell jokes in church when it has no message pertaining to scripture?
August 4, 200917 yr ^^ I agree TrueBlueWildcat. People show their faith to God in many different ways. The only person who you have to worry about thinking it is disrespectful is the Lord Himself. It does not matter if you find it disrespectful or not, it is God's opinion that matters, and we can not argue that. OK, tell me God's opinion.
August 4, 200917 yr Who is anyone here to judge their faith? Isn't that going against christian beliefs? You all know absolutely nothing about these people aside from the fact that the church/minister allowed this and the people involved danced down the isle. They danced for pete's sake ! What is so bad about this? How is this disrespectful at all? I understand you all are entitled to your opinions, but I can not even imagine how you reached those opinions. Judge not lest ye be Judged .Who judged? I merely posted my opinion, nothing wrong with that. Is there? What do you know about them HB? Ahh, the same. How did we reach these opinions? Very easily, actually. Church is a place for reverence, respect and humility. Show me any of the three in this ceremony. Simply doesn't belong in church. Church is a place to worship, not shake your groove thing.
August 4, 200917 yr As far as the comments about disrespectful in God's house, Jesus said where two or more are gathered in His Name, there he would be....so God's house is the local McDonald's, a BGP forum, a bar where Christians are sharing life with unbelievers as Jesus did, a child's sports team's practice or whereever else two Christians may gather in His Name. A church building is just that...a building. It is not a holy place that has some sort of mystical properties over what we make it as humans. It is a building and nothing is there that cannot be in a good Christian thread here on BGP. "Isn't it written, 'My house will be called a house of prayer for all the nations?'
August 4, 200917 yr For those that think the dancing and song was disrespectful in church, what about all the Scriptures that indicate that Heaven is a place of song, dancing, clapping, worshiping the Lord. I don't recall any Scriptures that indicate Heaven is a place to seat quietly in a church pew repeat the words that some minister is saying and being reserved and quiet the whole time. I wonder if the problems many of you are having are SOCIETAL views on church rather than BIBLICAL views of church. Oh, OK, so if I go to your church and dance down the aisle to my seat or pew, dance down the aisle to communion, and dance down the aisle as I leave you, your preacher/priest, the congregation and you would think that just fine and dandy? Somehow, I doubt it. Somehow I think I'd be asked to knock it off or not come back.
August 4, 200917 yr Societal. No different than if some bozo wore high top Chuck Taylors with his tux. Tacky is tacky. :thumb:
August 4, 200917 yr Church is a place for reverence, respect and humility. Show me any of the three in this ceremony. Simply doesn't belong in church. Church is a place to worship, not shake your groove thing.I agree. A church is a sacred place on sacred ground, and should always be treated as such. Doing something like this--while admittedly, fun to watch--is disrespectful to God. This seems to put the people ahead of God and scream, "Look at us; give us praise!"

August 4, 200917 yr I'll never understand this line of thinking. That's because we live in an age that treats everything as common.
August 4, 200917 yr That's because we live in an age that treats everything as common. Now there's an understandable line of thinking. :thumb:
August 5, 200917 yr OK, tell me God's opinion. Nobody knows His opinion, that is my point. We can argue on whether or not it is right, but His is the only opinion that matters, and He is the only one who knows that.
August 5, 200917 yr That's because we live in an age that treats everything as common. That's not at all how I see it but we obviously agree to disagree on the subject and I'm fine with that.

I never claimed to know anything about them. But I didn't accuse them of disrespecting the church either, did I? Ahh..makes sense huh? So I guess no marriages should take place in church? Since you should only worship there? And you did judge them. You said they were basically disrespecting the church...that sure seems like you are judging them for their actions.
