August 6, 200917 yr So dressing up in ridiculous, overpriced, clothes that you will only wear once is showing humility?  FWIW- and this is getting very, very overanalyzed- but one could make the argument that one expresses more humility by wearing appropriate attire (getting all dressed up) than one would by wearing inappropriate attire (i.e. more casual and less expensive).
August 6, 200917 yr My friend, the fact that you accuse me of merely trying to rile people up, and then state things such as, "Thank God every decision is not made by RTS and we are given freedom to choose things like this in our great country. Freedom is a great thing" is all too ironic. I've merely stated my opinion- you are the one employing hyperboles, stating that solely RTS's stated opinion on a discussion board is an attempt at suppressing freedom in the United States. I would never fathom to know what God "likes" or "dislikes". I don't think that what these people did was even a sin. I just thought it was a poor way to celebrate holy matrimony, especially in what is a house of worship. I believe that we have built churches as places to worship in an appropriate manner, and that I believe that the type of behavior exhibited by this wedding party was inappropriate in what is supposed to be a sacred place of worship. Anywhere else, it would be fine (except for the poor dancing and even worse song choice ) The entire thing bothers me much less than you would like to think it bothers me- as I've said, I haven't called the bride & groom, the minister, or even commented on their YouTube video. I just mentioned that I found it tacky and inappropriate. If you think that my posts in this thread were an attempt at riling people up, ask RTS himself (or multiple other posters, especially from P&R) how many times I've PMed him, accusing him of doing exactly what you are accusing me of- I can guarantee that "riling people up" is not my attempt. If the mere statement of one's opinion appears to you as an infringement on freedom in America then perhaps the concept of a message board is unclear to you. You've fooled me... totally kidding.

Maybe originally. The wedding dress is a "look at me" purchase and nothing else.
August 6, 200917 yr You've fooled me... totally kidding. To be honest, I don't understand how you manage to take part in some of these debates. All of this stuff has to be so far removed from reality for you, if I were in your position, I think I would feel like I was arguing with people about what their imaginary friends like or don't like, ya know?

Honestly I have spent a lot of time around several religions/denominations...I actually find religion to be quite fascinating.

If the mere statement of one's opinion appears to you as an infringement on freedom in America then perhaps the concept of a message board is unclear to you. First of all, "my friend", my comment in which I said... So what you are saying is, God doesn't like people who dance, specifically in a church? This just seems ridiculous. I think some of you are just saying these things to start a debate. Otherwise I can't fathom anyone actually believing or feeling that way. ...was not intended to be taken all that seriously. I was half kidding when I wrote it, but like my last attempt at sarcasm, I failed to use one of these . And I never, ever suggested that, "RTS's stated opinion on a discussion board is an attempt at suppressing freedom in the United States". What I said was... Thank God every decision is not made by RTS and we are given freedom to choose things like this in our great country. Freedom is a great thing. ..which basically means that I am glad that RTS can not suppress our freedom and make every decision for us. Again, I did not even come close to suggesting that RTS's "opinion on a discussion board is an attempt" to suppress anyone's freedom. "I just thought it was a poor way to celebrate holy matrimony, especially in what is a house of worship" Again, thankfully people are allowed to choose how they want to get married and what they do in their weddings. I think each couple should be able to do whatever they want. It is their day and I'm not going to judge them for whatever they choose. Like I said before, I wouldn't have done it in my wedding, but I couldn't care less what another couple decides to do. It is their day, they can choose whatever they want to do IMO. If it wasn't sinful...what's the problem? There isn't one. I believe that we have built churches as places to worship in an appropriate manner, and that I believe that the type of behavior exhibited by this wedding party was inappropriate in what is supposed to be a sacred place of worship. Anywhere else, it would be fine (except for the poor dancing and even worse song choice ) I understand that a church is a place of worship. It has only been stated 25 times in this thread alone already . They were getting married and they had fun doing so. When I got married and it came time for the rings, my best man pulled out one of these. Is that disrespectful because it was in a church? I don't think so. The church might be a place of worship, but I don't think that means we can't have fun in one. They were not doing anything sinful and they were in the process of a marriage, which is a form of worship. They were having fun, while worshiping, right? What's wrong with that? If the mere statement of one's opinion appears to you as an infringement on freedom in America then perhaps the concept of a message board is unclear to you What? Where did I even imply that the statement of one's opinion was an "infringement on freedom in America"? Please explain to me where that came from? I said, one time, that I am happy that RTS can't make decisions for us all. Out of that statement, you came up with this?
August 6, 200917 yr ^ I assumed your comment implied a connection between RTS's comments and "thank God that America is a free place." My apologies. I also apologize for not recognizing your sarcasm.
August 6, 200917 yr And I don't believe what they did was disrespectful, at all. That's fine, we can agree to disagree. Never claimed you couldn't voice your opinion...:idunno:Didn't say you did, just pointing out what I was doing. :sssh: So it's not OK for them to dance, but it is OK for you judge them, and call them fools?:ohbrother: It's OK for me to voice my opinion, which is all I'm doing. And yes, in my opinion they look like fools doing that in church.
August 6, 200917 yr So dressing up in ridiculous, overpriced, clothes that you will only wear once is showing humility?  You think dressing nice in church is a bad thing?  Id rather see that than someone in cutoffs and a t-shirt. But again, to each his own.

August 6, 200917 yr I never said that either, but nice try. I said I'm glad you can not. Not that you would, did, or want to. OK, than could you be a lttle clearer then for me? You've been clear as mud to cch5432 and I in a few of your posts. I know it's not intentional, but I'm really a bit confused at what you we driving at. Thank you in advance.
