Mustang Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 I was very sorry to hear the news that Steven Elrod, a standout member of the Pendleton County Wildcats from 2001 through 2003 was tragically killed in an automobile accident on Tuesday morning near Falmouth. Steve had joined the Wildcats during his junior year after the Penrod family moved back to Northern Kentucky in 2001. His younger brother Jon was a member of Coach Buddy Bigg's 2005 10th Region Champion Wildcats team who narrowly lost to Pleasure Ridge Park in the 2005 KHSAA Sweet Sixteen State Tournament. Join me in offering our condolences to the Elrod family in this very difficult time. Steve will always be remembered as a gifted athlete, and outstanding human being, who came from a quality family.
ladiesbballcoach Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Prayers of comfort and wisdom to the Elrod and Kelsch families. Stephen was an organ donor and through this horrible time, many are finding a new life tonight through Stephen's loving gift. Even in his untimely death, Stephen demonstrated the quality of character in this young man.
Log Mountain Boy Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 This is very sad. I had met him before and found him and his brother to be fine young men. Prayers go out to his family during this tough time.

Tiger1 Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 My deepest sympathy and prayers to the Elrod family.
d-dawg Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Wasn't it him or his brother that played ball for Belmont College in Tennessee.
Mustang Posted July 22, 2009 Author Posted July 22, 2009 Wasn't it him or his brother that played ball for Belmont College in Tennessee. Both Stephen and Jon attended and played basketball at Georgetown College. Stephen graduated in 2007. Keaton Belcher (PCo '05) played at Belmont College.
NKYThreeFer Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Stephen was as good of a kid as you'll ever meet. He always worked hard on the basketball court and had the drive to succeed. This is a tradgedy that's hitting the whole community hard. The Elrods are a close family, just keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
