He never said honesty was intrinsically Christian. He made it a Christian topic because that's what he wanted to do...he made the thread. He viewed the incident through a Christian lens.

 

Perhaps he should have written a disclaimer at the bottom of the initial post so no one would be offended.

So, any other CHRISTIANS out there want to share times that you have struggled against your worldly self?

 

I think Christians hearing other Christians struggle and win battles can be uplifting to OTHER CHRISTIANS.

 

Any other people who want to share stories from their faith, values, ethics, etc, feel free to start a thread where you can do that.

As a random, RANDOM tangent, does anyone else now have the line "Sometimes it's hard....to be a woman...." from Tammy Wynette's "Stand By Your Man" going through their head when they read the title of the thread? :lol: :idunno:

 

I can't answer this due to my chromosomal make up (XY), but my wife sure does some good karaoke with Tammy's music.:lol:

Disclaimers. It sure is sad that a proposed question has to have disclaimers and further "thought provoking" questions asked. I liked and also understood lbbc's original thought. Too bad the discussion turned more into an attack and defense of the question instead of some good responses regarding people's moral temperment.

Today, I was watching my child playing golf and went to rent a cart. Usually I walk but the 5:00 AM wake up call got me hard and I didn't feel like walking the course.

 

So, went in and asked for a cart and they said $13.00 for a spectator cart. I gave him a $20 and then he said "you the only one riding?"

 

If I say yes, then it is $13 but a lie.

If I say no and tell him my wife is riding too and it is going to be $26.

 

GGRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

I am out another $13.00.

 

Anyone else got a time we can build each other up when your worldly self wanted to do something else but your Christian side took over?

 

I was at the state tournament this year and went to buy a coke, it was 2.50, I gave the guy a 10 and he gave me 17.50 back. I didn't realize until I was back at the hotel, but the next morning session I went to find the guy and give him the extra money and he looked like I had 7 heads. I could have kept the extra $10, but the guy was old and it looked like he couldn't afford to come up short on his drawer; and it was the right thing to do. Is that the kinda stuff you're asking about LBBC?

Suppose the thread read something along the lines of "it's hard being a Jew because I can't eat delicious bacon." Should I automatically be offended if I have my own self-imposed dietary restrictions? No, because there is no implication that non-Jews do not make difficult sacrifices.

 

I think it is fairly clear lbbc was looking for some Christian solidarity on living what he considers a Christian life, which includes many other things than honesty.

Hey, I don't even have a problem with the follow up question, but I didn't like the tone the posts took and subsequent attacks that followed it...

 

Perhaps, if lbbc had said, it's hard being a Christian because if I wasn't, I could have lied and paid $13 like everybody else in the world because they don't have morals.

I'm not much of a back patter though...I think I'll pass on the stories from my life. Of course, maybe it's because I'd keep the $13 and just confess my sin that evening.

For me, the title of the thread is misleading. For me, it's ALWAYS hard being a Christian because of the amount of human stupidity in the world combined with temptations.
