It's called human decency, and I still don't see a connection between religion and being a decent human being.

It never happens, but I get what UKMustang is saying. Honesty isn't an exclusively Christian virtue. The issue of honesty here is what's hard, not whether or not your a Christian.

LBBC is a Christian. If he were a Muslim, he would say that "sometimes it is hard being a Muslim," in reference to the same situation. If he were a Jew, he would say that "sometimes it is hard being a Jew," in reference to the same situation.

 

Would it make sense for LBBC, as a Christian, to relate his own experience, and say, "sometimes it is hard being a Bhuddist,"?

 

From LBBC's statement, how can anyone extract the idea that he is saying that honesty is exclusively a Christian value?

I know what you're saying, but if someone didn't know LBBC, the title says it's hard being Christian. Not it's hard being honest. If you know LBBC, you know what he's saying. If you look at it from a distance, as if you didn't know LBBC, you could see it as a statement supporting a theory of exclusive Christian virtues.

I don't think that UKM thinks he would have answered the question better if he weren't Christian. But, by using the qualifier "Chrstian", it makes the statement read as if the writer feels that being a Christian is what made him honest in this case. Which, he may feel.

 

Let's look at it from a different perspective. Had someone posted "It's hard being a Martian", and then posted the same scenario, it would seem as if the virtue of honesty were exclusive to inhabitants of Mars, rather than an intergallactic virtue.

It means that times it is hard for me to be a Christian when there are things that I could do and no one would know except my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

 

It is that simple.

Overall it doesn't seem like LBBC was doing anything but patting himself on the back...something LBBC is pretty good at. It's not asking a question or really contributing anything...just vainly saying, "hey, I did they right thing guys".

 

 

This is just one non-Christians opinion, so I'm sure it will be dismissed.
