Personal Anti-virus

Featured Replies

I just got this virus, and it sucks trying to get it off.:madman:

It looks like a normal antivirus spyware program, but then starts downloading stuff off your computer.

I downloaded a spyware that is supposed to take it off.

Is it spy ware guard 2008 ?

Really?

I'm telling you, people really need to start paying attention to stuff on Facebook. You're opening yourself up to a world of pain.

The best anti-virus method I have ever used involved buying a Mac. I have had mine about a year and a half, never, had the slightest problem at all.

Because people simply don't care to create viruses for something that represents less than 10% of all computers.

Which is great for Mac owners. I realize that they are not invincible, but you can't get infected by a virus that does not exist.

I agree that it works out well for Mac owners. And I recognize you probably weren't doing this, but it always gets under my skin when Mac guys tout the virus thing as evidence of the superiority of the Mac. If the situation were reversed, it would be the Mac that was getting slammed by viruses. People would find a way, they just don't care to.

FWIW, I've had one incident of a virus on my computer ever, and it was not a result of my action, but of my wife's, who got it THROUGH FACEBOOK.

ONly virus our computers have ever received was through the MSN messanger. I don't get on any of the sites like Facebook.

Man you have just hit the nail on the head for me with the bolded.

I rarely ever have problems with things like that anymore. If it gets bad I just format and start over, easier and makes things run more efficiently.

What should people look out for on facebook? I am on there everyday and I have never had any problems. I do have a Mac at home, but here in Japan, I have a laptop from work, but I still haven't had any issues. What on facebook is harmful?

Yeah, I am with Purple Pride....I just started facebook...what is harmful and how do you know? I am worried now.

It's the same thing as you've ever had to worry about outside of it. You don't open links and attachments from people you don't know and the like. The problem is, with Facebook, pretty much everyone that is sending you something is your "friend". So you're apt to trust the links you get.
