Myth Busters on tv declared it to be plausible an not a myth...

Definitely not a myth...if you think they are then you either didn't drink enough or you need to look at something a little better lol.

There's a huge problem with their research. They used pictures. Beer goggles deal with more than just looks. It also deals with, um......one's willingness to leave with another individual (we'll leave it at that :D). I've witnessed it first hand before. I went to the bar with my brother-in-law, and the first couple ladies he was talking too looked nice, but as the night went on, they got less and less attractive. The woman he ended up leaving with, he would've never left with if sober.

Since we're posting songs about it, here's a little Neal McCoy for you:

No way--I've seen them work their wonders waaaayyyy too many times to count!

Beer Goggles are a fact.

They are actually the effect on the optic nerve from alcohol suppression of rational reasoning brain cells that focuses objects through the lens of the eye.

Yes they do and this to date is still the only song I've ever karokied(sp) in public.

I also vote no! Maybe if you had alcohol poisoning or something.

Must be the same scientists the tobacco industry used to deny the ill effects of smoking.

Seriously, their methodology was all wrong. They should have used live models instead of photos, and I bet they would have gotten different results. Plus, I see no mention of the use of lighting levels ("ugly lights" as Prince called it) and how this would change the study subjects' opinions of potential targets.

Plus, by virtue of the people knowing they're being studied, the results are skewed. The study subjects are going to approach this much differently — i.e., they would overcompensate for their drunkenness by being even more selective than normal — than they would if they were unaware.

I see this every weekend and it is NOT a myth. Judgment is clearly not on track as it would be on a normal night.

I tried to walk with the beer goggles on in a school experiment, and I also tried to drive, it definately affects the brain to SIMULATE drunk. I do not think that they are dead on, but when it comes to motor skills like that, they do their purpose.
