Why is she getting a free pass or a blind eye to the statement she made (if you could decipher that speech) about not wanting to take any time away from being Gov? That was the wackiest thing I heard in the speech.

 

For those that have ignored my previous rant on this is there something I'm missing that should make me think she is NOT trying to fool us? Did she only campaign for McCain at night after her 9 to 5 shift as Governor of AK?

Good point, Clyde, and this supports my opinion in another thread, too.

 

For someone that wants to keep her family out of the limelight, why invite the media along on a family vacation? I guess she's on vacation these last two weeks of her term?

Hmmm.......A politician who has strong support on one side of the political aisle and is loathed by the other side of the political aisle......sounds like a accurate description of both Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton...Hillary didn't manage to become president but her chances were significantly above zero...for a good part of the last campaign she was the favorite.....I see no reason why Palin's chances should be pegged at zero and to do so seems overly pessimistic (optimistic?).....I don't think I would call her the favorite but she's certainly in the mix and there certainly have been politicians who have succeeded against longer odds.....Richard Nixon after losing to Kennedy in 1960 comes to mind....

Palin isn't even in the same league as Nixon. He had many more years of experience before he ran for president(house, senate and as VP) than she has at this point and even if she runs in '12 she won't be able to sniff his credentials.

Even taking into account Nixon's failures in 60 and 62 I disagree on Palin being less of a long shot than Nixon. He had experience in many different arenas of government and a sensational grasp of the issues. Given Palin's performance during the campaign(media bias or not) she seems more flash than substance to me at this point. Not taking into account her social conservative values that cause the far right to salivate she never really managed to impress me during the election on any other issues.

 

Bear in mind too that I tend to lean right of the middle too and I still think she is a dead horse politically. Resigning from office, no matter her reasons, leaves her with very little experience in government comparatively and that will hurt her in the long run. Which is another reason why I still resist the comparison to Nixon.
