June 23, 200917 yr ...Tayshaun Prince? That is interesting. "The Celtics offered Ray Allen(notes) and Rajon Rondo(notes) to the Detroit Pistons for a package that included Richard Hamilton(notes), Tayshaun Prince(notes) and Rodney Stuckey(notes), league sources told Yahoo! Sports." http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=Asy5jbIj3vAklvCUlW72S3K8vLYF?slug=aw-celticspistons062209&prov=yhoo&type=lgns :ohbrother:
June 23, 200917 yr This would be a bad trade for the Celtics, IMO. Are you serious... The Pistons would lose the top 3 players.
June 23, 200917 yr Author Are you serious... The Pistons would lose the top 3 players. And the Celtics would lose all hopes of returning to the NBA Finals...
June 23, 200917 yr This would be a bad trade for the Celtics, IMO. I think it would be a great trade for the Celtics. Ray Allen is basically the same as Hamilton, though Allen is better. Tayshaun and Stuckey > Rondo.
June 23, 200917 yr This would be a bad trade for the Celtics, IMO. Boston proposed the trade and Detroit laughed them off the line...
June 23, 200917 yr And the Celtics would lose all hopes of returning to the NBA Finals... What makes you think that? Hamilton, Prince, and Stuckey with Garrnett and Pierce... that is just unfair.
June 23, 200917 yr The Celtics need to obtain Prince without ridding themselves of Rondo. Now that could get me interested in the NBA.
June 23, 200917 yr And the Celtics would lose all hopes of returning to the NBA Finals... You're serious? Stuckey is a very good point guard, maybe almost as good as Rondo. And Rip is superior to Ray Ray. Then throw in Tayshaun... Celtics would be loaded had this gone through, and Detroit would be stupid.
June 23, 200917 yr Boston proposed the trade and Detroit laughed them off the line... That sounds about right... That trade would make Boston even better. Rip and Allen would be a wash. Rondo would get the nod over Stuckey right now, but that story could easily change if they switched supporting casts. And, Prince may be the most valuable guy in the trade and Detroit is getting nothing to offset that loss. His presence would make the Celtics even better defensively and he's one of those rare players who can contribute in many different ways and doesn't care about his own glory. He'll just fit in and do what he can to help the team win. I'd like to see Boston play with this lineup... PG - Stuckey SG - Hamilton SF - Pierce PF - Prince C - Garnett They'd also have the depth to move KG to the 4 and beef the front line up if necessary. The above lineup would allow them to match up really well with a team like Orlando.

Celtics would be loaded had this gone through, and Detroit would be stupid. What are the contract situations with Rondo and Allen. Perhaps if Detroit wanted to clear cap space and rebuild...but, if you're just looking at player value, this deal is very one-sided.
June 23, 200917 yr Obviously a better trade for Boston. Stuckey is going to be a beast once he learns to play within himself.
June 23, 200917 yr Obviously a better trade for Boston. Stuckey is going to be a beast once he learns to play within himself. They liked him enough to deal Billups...there has to be something there. Rondo has a lot of potential, so I'm not trying to downplay that, but I think people underestimate the benefit playing with KG, Pierce and Allen has had on his game. I don't think its inconceivable that Stuckey would flourish in that same situation. Rondo has played better to date, but I'm not convinced Stuckey wouldn't be the better player if their situations were reversed and he were the PG in Boston and Rondo was in Detroit.
