June 18, 200917 yr As someone who has owned several vaccums I can tell you that I have had cannisters and uprights. Personally, I prefer cannisters as they are easier to maneuver, to work with on steps and intight places. They are much easier to use if cleaning your car....though the newer uprights do have attatchments also. Before you buy, take a good look at your needs. If you live alone in an apartment, you can get by on a smaller, cheaper vacuum. If you have a house full of kids and a few pets, you might as well go big. I went though a couple of vacuums trying to buy cheaper brands. Big mistake that costs more in the long run. Now I have a more expensive model (Simplicity from Kirklands), which I have had for years and I love. Like most things in life you get what you pay for. June 18, 200917 yr I Have owned several types and brands of vaccums. What I am using now and my favorite........Shop-vac...yes I use it inside my house, big area rugs, hardwood floors and carpet. I got mine at Lowes...on sale for like $40. You can't beat it. It picks up dirt and dust like no other I have used. :thumb:
