Does anyone know what region the umpires were out of?

Not that it matters, but there were no 9th region umps on the game anyway. There were two from 12, one from London who works in the 11th and may be one of the two or three best umpires in the entire state (and he was plate on this game from what I know), and another one from 11 who is working state. It didn't have anything to do with where umpires were from.

Some of the best umpires in the state are from 10th/11th region association and I wouldn't question thier decision on this play. But I have seen some other umps and I would question their calls.

Kissinger did you see the incident at the game? If you were, what did it look like to you that happened?

That is terrible for the player, I would say that they would need some tape to reverse this situation.

Unless there is film showing that there was no collison/contact at all this will not get overturned.

Congrats to the Breds for their impressive game. Dailey pitched a great game, let his defense help him out. HC turned 5 double plays, 4 of which ended innings. The Breds also successfully had a pickoff at first and a key out at third on a fielder's choice, thanks to a heads up play by Dailey, Dye and Case.

 

Congrats to Senior Shortsop Eric Case for being named Most Outstanding Player of the Sectional Tourney. 3 for 7 in the tourney, two doubles, two runs scored, two RBI's and pitched two thirds of an inning with 2 K's.

 

A tough call at home. From my vantage point, the catcher was indeed up the line, in the basepath in front of the plate. The throw was high, the catcher jumped then contact was made. I did not think he had the ball when contact was made. It looked like Dye was atempting to dive toward home, when contact was made. Dye really had no where else to go, his path was blocked. I did not think he lowered the shoulder with intent to make contact, but others may think it was the intent. It was bang bang.

 

It definitely was a judgement call. While I disagreed with it, and did not feel like it was intentional contact, if the ump rules it that way, then the ejection has to be made. Honestly, that rule needs a little wiggle room, and this play would have been a prime example for that.

 

Did not see any punches thrown. Benches did not clear. Beechwood coaches came out to argue thier point, once the call was made, players and coaches were miling outside the dugout waiting for the final decision, as both coaches argued thier point and umpires huddled to discuss the situation.

Tough judgement call by the home plate umpire on the Dye kid from Harrison County. The catcher WAS up the line about five feet or so and directly in the baseline. He jumped for the throw at about the same time that Dye arrived. I think Dye was unsure of what to do...the catcher wasn't where he usually would be...the throw requires the catcher to jump up to try and corral the throw.,,the pitcher is in the way as well....I really think he was between a dive and a slide in his own mind and just kind of did neither. I can guarantee you, the thought of barrelling over the catcher was not on his mind at all....I'd say Dye is about 5-5 and checks in at 130 pounds or so.

 

By the way, his punishment is SEVERE....TWO game suspension, NOT one. He won't play again this year until the State Title Game, if the Breds make it that far.

Its a 1 game suspension for players when ejected this year...2 games if a coach is ejected.

Change made by KHSAA mid-season....ALL ejections come with a two game suspension...players and coaches.

According to the KHSAA listing of DQs, he will be the first baseball player to get a 2 game suspension on a 1st offense like this.
