That's an argument, but I think the reason Jordan is considered the best is because he played in the era of the media, any and everything he did on the court was on tape. Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain and Jerry West played the majority of their careers without all of this media coverage.

Well he was on 11 All-NBA teams, won MVP 5 times, 12-time All Star, averaged 22.5 RPG over his career. 22.5 And he made everyone else around him better, as can be seen with 11 championships as well.

Individual stats you have to go Chamberlain. All things considered it would be hard to make an argument against Russell.
June 2, 200917 yr My personal choice is the Big O. Oscar was really one of a kind, I don't know that he might not have been the most talented overall basketball player of all-time. Or I would go with Wilt Chamberlain. I don't know if the NBA will ever see something like that again. He was one of the tallest players in the league, one of the most talented and probably the most athletic. I totally agree w/this statement!:thumb:

June 3, 200917 yr If I'm building a franchise, and assuming that 23 is out of the mix; I either take a dominant center or point guard. Russell, Magic and The Big O would fit the bill, with Wilt and Kareem right behind. I lean toward Magic just because he was so versatile. I watched him score 40+ while playing the post in a title game many years ago.
