Seems like it has been since he started. I can't remember a year when there weren't rumors of someone angling behind the scenes to get him fired.

I agree. This past season, he had to step between an assistant coach and an irate parent after a game in the regions to keep it from coming to blows. He definitely had a love for the game and for KC.

 

 

 

 

wiSouth Laurel's assistant. He ll be a GREAT head coach when that opportunity comes along. If KC could find a way to get him, it would be a major plus, but for some reason, I don't see it happening right now.

 

OK Brad Sizemore, never knew his last name. I agree he will make a very fine coach someday. I look for him to maybe become South's coach when Coach Wright moves on. I don't think he would fit in a KC at all. Wonder if Cody Miller stays there now?

Not only was he fired, the story was in print at least two different publications and on the newstand before he even knew he was gone from what I have been told.

Coach Elam has had to put up with a lot of distractions from parents and gets very little support from his administration. But however, the girls program at KCHS has struggled for many years and nothing has been done with that program, but that is another story of who you are in the world of politics at KC. Coach Elam I wish you the best of luck and I hope to see you on the court again. I hope that get a chance to have the final say so with the administration at KC.

I didn't realize Elam had been there 8 years. Or at least I think that's what Les's article said. He took over for JD correct??? I agree with you about the girls program. And let me make it clear, I'm not bashing, just not sure how you fire Elam, regardless of cause, and keep the girls coach. Does anyone know what his overall W-L record is??? Again not bashing, but firing Elam, makes it almost impossible not to analyze the success of the girls program.

You heard wrong. He was given notice and the Sup did try to work with him.

Sorry to hear about Coach Brandon Elam. I really liked Coach Elam. He was always so nice to me when I was at Cawood High School and now at Harlan County High School. Always enjoyed talking to him before the games. Hope to see him coach again in the 13th region.

Elam done a good job @ Knox Central, but the thing that hurt him was the big game. That is what most fans measure success in any sport on is the big one. Knox Central has good talent every year and they will be one of the top 3 or 4 teams again next season. When a coach has some success like Elam did, people want to start seeing more than a district title. Good luck to Coach Elam in the future. I am sure he will get a coaching job soon.

Generally, when attempts to reach an individual in a breaking story like this are unseccessful it is noted in the article. I don't think I remember reading that in this particular instance.

 

I may end up proven wrong on this, if so it will be acknowleged on the board, but I stand by what I posted.
