Baseballguy
I have taken a job in Fort Myers Florida. My wife and I are going, while our son finishes up his two years at UK. It's pretty exciting, yet a little scary as well. We have been in Ky. our whole lives and the closer it gets to leaving, the more I wonder if it's the right thing to do. It is a promotion and I feel like we may not get this opportunity again. We went down a couple weeks ago to look for a place to live and did find a couple places. Looks like we may rent at first and may buy later. I still have to sell our place here, and that's what has be worried. Putting house on the market this week, so if anyones looking? I was telling my wife, just when things at UK our looking better, now were up and moving.:irked: Anyway, if anyone has any experience in the big move, I would love to hear your experience. gold sunrise
Congrats on the promotion. Thanks to BGP you can still keep up with the UK Cats. Best of luck on your move and new job. :thumb:
Hearsay
You can ask Swamprat about Ft. Myers. Its a great, beautiful town. As far as moving, I was really helped in finding new friends by joining a local church and a local service organization. On selling your home, don't spend a ton of money on improvements, just enough to make it solid and presentable. Fix the wall sconces, paint the porch, and clean, but don't make wholesale improvements. You can negotiate those things in the price. Congratulations on the promotion, good luck, and stay on BGP. mcpapa
On selling your house here - tidy the place up and get rid of any clutter. Potential buyers like to imagine their stuff in the house, rather than look at a bunch of yours. Make sure the kitchen and the bathroom sparkle. And congratulations on the promotion.:thumb:
LRCW
And the Reds won't even be in Florida next spring. I guess you'll be stuck watching the Red Sox. Seriously , congrats on the promotion, and good luck with everything. I'm sure you'll still be able to watch just about all of Kentucky's games, and as others have stated, you'll still be able to stay with us here on BGP. She had said, well at least we can watch the Reds next spring, and then I broke the news.:irked: It won't be all bad, I can watch Ben Revere play, he plays for the Twins single A Team, the Fort Myers Miracle. The way he's playing though, he may get promoted very soon. Thank you all for the well wishes.

It's like being home, without the mountains. Being in Ft. Meyers puts you almost exactly between the Marlins and the Rays. You can still catch the Reds in Miami a series or two a year, and in St. Pete every few years. If you have questions, PM me.
