Who said they weren't clutch? That performance against the Pistons is one of the greatest in playoff history. Nobody is taking anything away from him, but he just isn't on the Kobe-clutch level yet. He probably will be one day. Had LeBron missed that shot last night we would be talking about how poorly he played down the stretch because it was ugly at times. Huge, huge shot... good for him.

 

As for the last comment, most all of my friends dislike Kobe and they at least respect the argument for him as the best player in basketball. Not one expert or anyone in the business would tell you that one is way better than the other, that is just crazy.

No, no, no, no, no. You read what I said wrong. I said that the difference in the two at the end of the game is that no matter what Kobe is going to take it and LeBron is going to take it unless someone is open. Kobe didn't draw up the play and I don't know if he would bad mouth Phil anyway. Had he had the ball, he would have took the shot, doubled or not. And there is a very good chance that he would have made it.

And if you're going to talk about LBJ's mistakes, point out Kobe dribbling off of Nene's foot when they needed a basket, and that resulted in the jump ball. That lost the game for all intensive purposes. Nothing LeBron did lost either game. They have both played well down the stretch in these series. And to be honest with you Kobe has been as clutch as ever in this series overall.

They are not identical. Their games are totally different. You cannot look at any part of thier games and say they are identical other than they are similar in how many ppg. they put up. That is insane, whether you are a Kobe fan, a LeBron fan, or even a neutral fan. They play nothing alike.

Once again, I don't hate Kobe, just the way Kobe fans act. Kobe is a great player, and has played amazing in this series. I love to point out his flaws on here because Laker/Kobe fans get so amped up about it. I can point out LBJ's flaws as well. In the 4th quarter yesterday, he was a little passive and wanted to take the jumper rather than going to the basket, where he is unstoppable.

As for the rings, Kobe has none without Shaq. Say what you want, but had Shaq never have played with Kobe he would have ZERO titles right now. Shaq needed Kobe and Vice-versa, but had they not been teammates this argument wouldn't exist. LeBron is much younger, I think he will get 3 rings before he's done, and I doubt he will ever play with a dominant post player like Shaq (even if somehow he played with DHoward). And we all know that he (LeBron) has never played with a HOF. The titles that Kobe won were great, but it's not like it's something LeBron couldn't have done had they traded places. I don't get how people can throw that out. What year, besides possibly this one, did the Cavs have a team capable of winning a title? What year? Who's the best player LeBron has played with? Where do Mo Williams, Big Z, Ricky Davis, Anderson Varajao and etc. rank on the all-time greats list? Mo is probably about what? 1500 maybe? Big Z? Championships are won by great teams, and even sometimes that's not enough. Remember Stockton and Malone? I will take Stockton over Ron Harper or Malone over Robert Horry, but who has more titles. The titles are not irrelevant, but they simply cannot completely make anyones argument for why Kobe is better than LeBron.

Awsome shot by Lebron, but you got to give props to the Magic has well for coming back from at least 23 down. I agree about the walking call about fell out of my chair when they called it, a good call though. Series may go 7 and will be fun to watch.

I think if anyone else showed up offensively the Cavs would have won game 1. Changes to the defense will allow them to win the series.

 

The differences in their games have nothing to do with age. Kobe is tiny compared to LeBron. LeBron is an NFL Offensive Tackle playing Small Forward. LeBron and Kobe are not close athletically, and never have been. That's not saying Kobe isn't athletic, but LBJ is probably the best overall athlete to ever play in the league. He is 6-8, 270 lbs, and is the fastest player in the league and can jump out of the gym. No one matches that.

 

Aside from that, LeBron has the ability to guard 1-5, gets more rebounds because of his size and strength, and brings the ball up the floor/gets more assist. Their games are different. Kobe's game has always involved, much like Jordan, great footwork. He knows how to set up either his drive or a jumper. LeBron doesn't have to do that and doesn't do that. He is so physically imposing that he can just bully his way to the basket or shoot over you. Kobe cannot do that, and that is just in how they are genetically. In no way are the two the same player.

 

As for their prime. Kobe is still arguably in his. He is what 31? That is your prime. LeBron hasn't entered his yet. For most players, their primes are somehwere in the ages of 26 to 32/33. That is when all the polish is on a player, and he isn't too old to show it. At no point in Kobe's career, and to me last year was his best, would I take him over what LBJ gives you right now. He just doesn't give you everything that LeBron can give you. I don't see how anyone can argue that.

LeBron has- 28.4 ppg, 7.6 rpg, 7.2 apg, 1.7 spg, 1.1 bpg. He shot 48.9 % from the field this year, and 34.4% from 3.

 

If you are going to compare the two and not base it on today, then the two players at 24 years of age is the way to go. That would be this season for LeBron, and Kobe's 2nd title season with LA. Statistically speaking, which I again hate, but most on here love, LeBron is superior in every category at the same age, except for ft%. So sure you can compare Kobe in his prime, but why would you? LeBron isn't in his yet.

I wasnt watching the game at all and seen the score on the news late and figured Id see if the game was still on. Turned it on with 1 second left to see him hit that shot. If you ask Magic fans Lebron now prolly has the same middle name that Bucky Dent does.

It's not that close any more. Lebron is bigger, stronger and more athletic. The advantage Kobe has is his killer instinct and ability to hit clutch shots...and the fact that he rarely misses FT's down the stretch, something Lebron seems to do with regularity. That clutch ability becomes magnified at this point in the post-season. Now that Lebron has a big one under his belt, he'll get better at that aspect of the game.

 

Lebron is clearly the better player right now. But, they're on the same planet. He's not THAT much better.
