Cards complete the sweep with a 12-8 win. Two dingers by Pujols with Ankiel getting his first homer of the season. This was a good series at the plate for Ankiel...who also made a sick full extension diving catch in the early innings today. Only bad spot...Lohse turned his ankle in the 5th inning and did not return in the 6th. This could really hurt depening on how long he misses...if he misses any starts.

Up next: Cubs visit Busch Stadium!

I think that pitching is the thing that could hold the Cards back. I hope Lohse and Carpenter are both not out too long.

Tough to see Loshe go down, hopefully he will be OK. Pujols is a monster. Going opposite and center field. Good to see Ankiel have a big series.

Really need Rick Ankiel to catch fire to revive my fantasy team.

Loshe was supposed to have an MRI on his knee last night. I haven't seen a report on it yet. Pujols might get his 1,000 rbi tonight.

Also the all star voting has begun.

Vote for you favorite Cardinals

Ankiel has been sticking it up but was a monster tonight.

What happened to Lohse?

He was trying to avoid a collision with Albert Pujols during a fielding play at first base during the 5th inining. He stay in the game until the 6th. They say he jammed his knee.

Lohse MRI Clean; Status Evaluated Later Today

By Joe Strauss

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

A magnetic resonance imaging performed on Cardinals pitcher Kyle Lohse this morning found no structural damage to his right knee, according to a club source.

Lohse, who apparently jammed the knee covering first base on a bungled fifth-inning grounder Thursday, is unlikely to be assigned to the disabled list but may have his next start pushed back or skipped entirely. The matter will be discussed among general manager John Mozeliak, manager Tony La Russa, pitching coach Dave Duncan and team medical supervisor Dr. George Paletta this afternoon at Busch Stadium.

A club official described today’s finding as “clean” and called it “very good news.” The club intends to make an official announcement later this afternoon.

Cardinals rally to extend winning streak.

By Joe Strauss

ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH

04/25/2009

The Cardinals entered Friday as a novelty: a team bearing one of the game's four best records while leading its league in errors.

They exited after again defying convention. [/url]

After first baseman Albert Pujols stole his third base in as many games to push the go-ahead run into scoring position, the Cardinals used right fielder Ryan Ludwick's eighth-inning single to turn a defense-driven collapse into a 4-3 win over the Chicago Cubs before 45,812 at Busch Stadium.

He is a machine.

He almost hit it out of the stadium. He also reached the 1,000 rbi threshold with this hit.
