April 21, 200917 yr Every year like clockwork the playoffs roll around and I get hooked again on the NBA. I vow in the offseason that I am going to follow NBA more closely next season. Regular season rolls around, I watch minimal effort from players and no defense and get bored with it. Begin playoffs, repeat process! So many teams make the playoffs and it takes so long there is really no need to watch the regular season.

I may be wrong, but I think it will be a 7 game series. If the Bulls win, it will be in six. They won't win a game 7 in Boston. Meanwhile, the Cavs have to be feeling pretty good. Boston looks to be in a real struggle with Chicago and Orlando drops its opener to Philly. Most likely, the second round series will be just as competitive for the winners, while Cleveland will probably cruise, relatively speaking, through the first two rounds. I do enjoy some of the playoff games, but I just can't fully buy in knowing that a showdown between the top two teams and top two players in the NBA finals is inevitable. The rest is just a formality. I'm ready for the Cavs and Lakers.

Gordon is an unconscious shooter...fun to watch when he's on. I really like the Bulls roster. They have a ton of young talent with nice upside and now they've got a superstar-in-waiting, Derrick Rose, to set it all off. Del Negro might be the guy, I don't know, but if they get the coaching in place and these guys develop, this team should be a major player in the eastern conference for several years. Derrick Rose (PG) - 20 Ben Gordon (SG) - 26 Luol Deng (SF) - 24 Kirk Hinrich (G) - 28 Joakim Noah © - 24 Tyrus Thomas (PF) - 22 That's a pretty impressive collection of young talent, IMO. Derrick Rose has the talent to enter the best point guard discussion with Paul and Williams. And, I think Tyrus Thomas, only 22 years old, still has a nice upside. Gordon and Deng are already solid. When Rose reaches his potential, its going to make everyone on the roster a lot better. Match up their roster with Boston's minus KG...other than Paul Pierce, where does Boston have a real advantage. The Celtics have the experience. Fortunately for them, I think that will be enough to move on to the next round. But, talent-wise, at this point, I really don't like what they have as good as Chicago.

Who on earth is going to beat Cleveland in the eastern conference? :idunno: Boston? Without KG? No chance. Orlando? The same team that lost it's opener to Philly and has lost 5 of its last 9. Not to mention having to overcome Stan Van Gundy as the head coach. There's no need to even mention anyone else in the east. As for the Lakers, they made it to the finals with relative ease last season and the gap between them and the rest of the west has only widened this year. It is a formality...they're the two best teams in the league and have been all season. I'll be surprised if either the Lakers or Cavs have a series go longer than six games en route to the NBA finals. But, I am curious. You say Cleveland won't make the finals. Who will?
