Yeah, I have heard of this tournament. This should be a really good one!

 

I am also hearing about the Royals AAU Super-regional this coming weekend. This should be good as well. I saw on the Shining Stars website that they will be in this tournament. Obviously the Cincinnati Royals.

I beleive it is the same tourny as well. It is just being ran out of Princeton High School instead of Sports Plus.

Anyone going to check out tournaments this weekend? If so, what teams will be involved?

What is the main purpose of AAU right now? I've always understood its a way to get seen by coaches. But coaches can't watch players right now at these events if I am not mistaken.

I think the Derek Smith All-stars 17U West are playing in this event as well. I heard they did well this past weekend in the club ohio tourney of champions by winning the tourey by beating the Queen City Prophets.

 

6'8" center Curtis Washington is becoming the real deal in the post.

I know that. Which is kind of the point of my post. Why play right now. If a team plays in the Lebron James tournament, which starts Friday odds are most kids won't go to school on Friday from Ky who play. Then you don't get to be seen by a college coach.

I think it is important to play now because even though it is not live, teams are building and working the bugs out of their system. If you look at team rankings from the end of last year compared to this year already, there are numerous changes to rosters and strength, and there will be more to come.

I agree. It's important for teams to build chemistry with one another. Also, utilize this time to practice new scheme's and to just get the kids playing.

 

My question is... Why not play right now?

Does anyone know if some of the non-branded, but still good teams will be playing in this Royals tournament this weekend?

 

Teams like WKY Elite, NKY Bulldogs, Charlotte Court, BA Hoyas (even though this team is somewhat branded by the Basketball Academy, they are still new and just starting out)?

 

I like to watch them play against some of the so-called (on BGP) "big boys."

Those members who played for the Queen City Prophets only played at the AAU Nationals last year thats it. What do you mean they haven't done anything for them? Every tournament they go to they get recognition because team does very well. You don't have to have ADIDAS or JORDAN as sponsors to have a good team. The Shining Star Mcfarland team wasn't really a threat to the KY Players until they got some new adidtions this year. Derek Smith and Shining Star Sports do asssemble good talent from all around the state. Ky Players are all mostly from Covington.

I know they originally started out with all Covington kids. Now they have to go out and get players to be able to compete with all these other programs getting kids from all over the country.

If by very unlikely you mean he 100% is not going there you are right.

 

He would never play with the Players either. He's too smart.
