OK, since you all are not going to admit that Ashland is going to be good, how about the search for linemen. Have any stepped up to fill the void left by last years senior linemen?

 

How is Alber and Carter looking? I would say a lot of teams are going to get a steady dose of those two, and see nothing but the back of their jerseys.

 

How is Hunter looking? Gotten stronger? I know he has gained experience after his baptism under fire last year. I expect him to be pretty polished.

 

Is DeMartino back to 100%, I hated see him injured last year, he has the potential to be a game changer.

Ram hit the nail on the head. Now that he mentioned it, I, too, can hear the overjoyed voice of the Ashland radio announcer letting loose about Carter and Albers. If Ashland comes up with a line this year, they are going to be very, very good. No amount of sandbagging can disguise that. I look for them to be a top 10 ranked 5-A team this year.

Are you kidding, they will be out for blood, and if the Raceland players don't take it very seriously, and come out focused, they may get that blood. This Ashland team is going to be very explosive and hungry with something to prove, and a team that is not prepared, will get a big "L".

I got the feeling they were "out for blood" against Russell last year. It was one of those games where as soon as I saw Ashland come out onto the field, I thought "uh-oh...Russell's in trouble tonight". Ashland was 1-2 at the time and a loss to Russell would have put them on the road to possibly another disappointing season. Needless to say, they turned it around in a big way. You're right, Raceland had better be ready to match their intensity...but first things first...Greenup County for Ashland and Boyd County for Raceland. I assume both of those games will be wins for Ashland and Raceland...but you never know.

If Johnson Central is in the district (I think it is), no disrespect intended to Ashland, but I'd be very surprised to see them win the district. I understand your thinking, and you may be correct, Ashland beating Johnson Central will be tall task. But, I think it will be a closer game then many think.

 

Ashland started a freshman QB last year, he was obviously inexperienced, but he is a very good athlete, I have watched him grow up on the fields and court. I think he will be much better and, again, obviously more experienced this year. I think that will be a big difference.

 

Alber and Carter are seniors this year, they are very good athletes, but nothing replaces that year of experience, I expect two one thousand yard rushers from them this year.

 

DeMartino missed half the season with an injury, he will be their number one WR this year, and would have been last year if not injured. I also think he had several INT's last year before his injury, he may be more valuable on D then on O. He is an unknown to most people, but he will be known after the season gets under way.

 

Like I said, the OL is the big question mark, and again if they find that, they will be very strong.

Leatherneck, in years before I felt that Ashland had no chance at JCHS, this season I am certainly not saying they will win (yet:D) but I do believe the Tomcats will be very tough and wil pose a legitimate threat to win. Should anyoe take Ashland lightly this season the they will get embarrassed, the Tomcats ard loaded.

 

As for the Raceland/Ashand sandbagging, no sandbagging here. I personally just hope that Raceland comes out of their game with the Tomcats with 11 healthy players left and at least some confidence to play the rest of the season.

Great points. You may be right and I may be wrong. Fortunately for the kids, fat old men like me don't determine the outcome of games. Personally, I hope Ashland wins the district. I've been a fan of the Ashland program for a long, long time. I'll be an even bigger fan if you tell me they don't play god-awful music between plays like they do at JC. Can't stand that stuff. Heck, I don't like it during the pregame.

I look for Ashland to be very tough this year! Carter will rush for at least 1,500 yards this year. I seen him working out at the YMCA over the dead period along with several others. Ashland has great size and strength! Good luck to the tomcats except in game two of course :thumb:
