What do you consider the area?

 

I was referring to the small area in Northeastern Kentucky consisting of Ashland, Boyd County, Fairview, Russell, Raceland, and Greenup County. I don't think Ashland will be better than Johnson Central (if you want to extend the "area" to the south) or Ironton (if you want to include Ohio).

Ryanparker, I'd sure love to hear a song about area high school football or an Ode to bluegrassprepsters from our area.

I am sorry to report that Raceland does not seem to be interested in another sport. It is an expensive start up and being a 1A school, the numbers are just not there. So Graybeard, it doesn't appear that wrestling will be added to Raceland's sports programs.

Coach Love told me that Trent Hardy (rising junior) just broke Evan Holbrook’s (graduating senior center) bench press record from last spring. Trent is tall, strong, agile and athletic and I think he will make a name for himself this year.

 

Trent and Evan were wrestling partners through the last two winters. Trent wrestled in the 215 pound weight class and Evan wrestled in 189. I know that Evan would want Trent to be the one to break his record. It's always good to see one of Coach Love's wrestlers doing well!

I got to watch Ian Holbrook and Drew McDavid work out at Putnam Stadium for about an hour last night. Drew has really grown. He is getting ready to go to Georgetown's camp and wanted Ian to throw for him. Drew will be a junior this year and said that it looks like he will be starting at TE. He sure looks big enough to handle the job.

 

Drew still has great hands and it was fun to watch them. Drew is such a fine young man, Georgetown is lucky to have him.
