ZERO Big East teams in the final game

Featured Replies

I heard Pitino talk before the BE conference tourney started. He said that it was difficult for BE teams in the NCAA tourney for two reasons.

The teams in the BE beat on each other all season long.

The NCAAs are called a litle closer that what the BE is used to.

Not making excuses, just saying.

If those aren't excuses, what are they?

Regarding fouls, MSU was called for 25 and UConn was called for 18. Thats including 4 fouls on Uconn in the last 60 seconds. So take those away and its 25-14.

In the MSU v UofL game, it was 22 fouls on MSU and 15 on UofL.

I agree, fouls had nothing to do with U of L losing. The fact that MSU hit everything they put up had ALOT to do with Louisville losing.

Put a hand up in Goran Suton's face instead of worrying about the games being called closer, and UL might have a chance.

Also, I know you can't compare Basketball and Football... But the SEC Football teams beat up each other all year and they're running on 3 straight championships. I'd say thats it's a little harder to do in Football as well.

I think we should give the Big East some credit by having two teams in the final 4.

Hey, there is nothing that says the best conference has the best team in the first week of April. Most have thought UNC was the best team all year. MSU is on a run, and have had a great season. That, in no way, takes away from the great season the Big East had.

7 tourney teams

3 1 seeds

5 sweet sixteen

4 elite 8

2 final four

0 in championship game

Their record overall in the tournament was very dominant. At the end of the tourney, only one team is standing, and the rest are disappointed. That's what makes it so great.

I think winning the NCAA basketball tournament is by far the hardest championship to win. In football you get placed in a one game tournament by computers.

Well said... The Big east was a beast this year.

I agree it's harder to get to the championship. I was just saying that the wear and tear on the players bodies would be worse on the football players.

You and I don't agree very often but I have to agree with you here. Any body who says that the Big East wasn't the most difficult conference to play in this season needs their pumpkin examined. This doesn't necessarily mean they have the best overall team, however, on any given day they had 4 or 5 teams that could have easily won the entire shooting match.

These are what I call "built-in" excuses just in case you don't do as well as expected. The Big East was the best overall conference and UNC has the most overall talent of any team in the country.

The women made up for the men's shortcomings.

Regardless of Rank or Conference, it also takes a little luck. Peaking at the right time. More goes into winning this tournament than a #1 Ranking or being a part of the best conference. Just see what the Lady Cards have done the last 3 games!

I still thing that the BEAST was the best conference, top to bottom, but other conferences have good teams as well.

Anybody can beat anybody else on any given day!
