SI: Calipari can turn SEC into power conference...

Featured Replies

So, right off the bat, Calipari could grab two 2009 McDonald's All-Americans. That would double the total of the other 11 SEC schools combined (guard Kenny Boynton Jr. has signed with Florida). Even if Henry were to defect to Kansas, where his parents both played, Calipari remains in the hunt for Raleigh, N.C., point guard John Wall. Wall, the top-ranked guard in the class of 2009, is a near lock to go one-and-done.

So let's assume the excitement of Calipari's arrival entices Kentucky guard Jodie Meeks and forward Patrick Patterson to stay another season. Imagine this starting five being introduced before 23,000 screaming fans at Rupp Arena.

C -- Demarcus Cousins

PF -- Patrick Patterson

SF -- Ramon Harris

SG -- Jodie Meeks

PG -- John Wall

That lineup would be a nightmare for SEC coaches, who would have little choice but to change the way they recruit. Most have an aversion to one-and-done players, but if they can't beat Calipari, they'll join him. If they don't, their athletic directors will find someone who will.

I think atleast Miller or Hood will start over Harris. He could be a nice player off the bench though

That's what I was thinking as well.

I'm hoping he is one that leaves and clears some roster space for someone that can actually put the ball in the hole.

Harris will be OK in the role he should have been in already. A good minutes guy off the bench. I hope he hangs around.

The writer is off his rocker if he believes that foolishness. The SEC will continue to be a one-trick pony, with a rotating cast of second bananas. Just like always.

OK.

I agree.

As long as we get to be the pony.......

Ergo, my "just like always" line ...

Miller over Harris for sure. I think Gillispie was drawn to Harris for his defense which I think Calipari will find a way to not have to worry about because he can actually COACH.

I think Harris is our best lock-down defender and he showed improvement in his offensive game toward the end of the season. From what I could see, he became much more aggressive in going to the rim which was very un-Ramon-like. I think you can't go wrong though with Harris/Miller at that position. If we end up getting Xavier Henry too, I think we could end up having him in the line up running a 3 guard/2 foward lineup which, IMO, would be very effective. Personally I've always been a big fan of a 4 guard with a big man in the middle lineup but the possible personel we have coming in next year will suit me regardless of what type of offense we run.

I say no chance Henry comes. As in 0%.

The odds of him coming are unlikely but I would not say there is a 0% chance of him coming here. Just echoing off some previous posts but as of right I'd say we have about a 20/80 shot getting him but you never know what he is thinking of Calipari, he might want to follow him.

Some people saying Harris may have health concerns.

I'll stick with my 0% :p.
