Steffphon Pettigrew, who was the rightful Mr. Basketball selection in 2007 over Walls, needs to be on the list over Walls.

Walls led his team to a state title. Pettigrew got beat out in the district. Walls played against the best competition in the country and averaged like 23 points a game or something like that. Its hard to argue what he accomplished. He was a great shooter and also an all around player. Pettigrew has been a great college player thus far and is definitly a borderline top 10 player.

I am surprised you have O'Bannon. I thought he improved tremendously after high school, but wasn't all that great before he got to UL. I never saw Doellman in high school. I can't comment on him. I disagree with several on your list, but O'Bannon really jumps out at me.

Wow I completely forgot about him!! I knew when I started this list I'd see a bunch of players that would slip my mind!

I know I am leaving out a load of talented kids who have slipped mine as well.

Lofton needs to be at the top of everyones list. I'll never forget the Mason county Lex Catholic game his senior year @ Catholic. The gym was packed and i was right down on the floor when he pulled up about 5 feet behind half court with 2 hands in his face to force the game to over time and pull out a win in OT. Best high school game and best Kentucky high school basketball player I've ever seen HANDS DOWN!!. Big ups to Chris Lofton. I dont know what he'd doing now but hopefully he's over seas somewhere.

Come on Log Mt. Boy...it is ok to include Ferguson and Ethan Faulkner from Elliott County. Three trips to the Sweet Sixteen and all the success they have experienced. Let's put them in the mix. And if Pittman and Rico Johnson make it back down state next year, you will have to put them on the list also. There are probably going to be 20 or more players you could throw into this debate.

You could add Pitmann and both Johnson's on the list right now, if you're merely going by high school prowess.

Top Ten HS Players in KY in the 2000's:

1. O.J. Mayo... Phenom

2. Rajon Rondo... Has an NBA Ring

3. Donta' Smith... Stuck around in the NBA

4. Scotty Hopson... Rare McDonald's All-American in KY

5. Chris Lofton... Amazing career

6. Brandon Bender... Dominant HS Career

7. Michael Bush... A man among boys, playing his #2 sport

8. Larry O' Bannon... Solid performer, started for a Final Four team

9. Shelvin Mack... Great leader, great career.

10a. A.J. Slaughter... (see Shelvin Mack).

10b. Marquis Estill... Big-time as a senior

*Sorry, I don't personally have records past 2000.

Also, I didn't include Carlos Hurt (only played his senior year), Bill Walker (quit Rose Hill),

:thumb:

I can't believe there were so many exclusions of Donta' Smith. He was tough, and I looked forward to seeing him play in the Sweet 16 each year.

This ought to be good.

I'm just giving westsider a hard time. I'm sure he didn't list Mayo because OJ only played 2 years in Kentucky.

I accidently left of Bud Macket at #6 when editing my list. I put Bender in at the last minute and moved some down.
