You did not know how it works now this is how I heard it down at the tournament. If you are a footballer and don't go to Highlands you go across the river to the football state. If you live in OH and are a good basketball player you come over during middle school and come to KY a basketball state.

From what I have heard none of the current transfers have a job at Toyota. I have also heard that it usually takes a couple years to get on at Toyota full time.

 

Its just a common occurance that good players transfer to good programs.

Hazard had 3 (a good program on a smaller scale)

Mason Co. had 1

J'town had a couple.

And Scott County will have six next year ... seven if you count Ivey.

Still, it's just a thought, but I agree fully with the bolded statement, having transfers should not take away from your program at all. Good players want to play with good players, and being from a school like Scott County, Louisville Eastern, Lexington Catholic, Holmes, Clark County etc will always almost certainly get you decent exposure.

If you have a good team naturally people will want to come there. Elliott is an example. The Knipps moved to EC when Chris was an 8th grader in middle school to play with the Faulkners and Ferguson. It is just natural. This is a basketball state. People take it seriously. I think it makes for more competetive basketball.

Which is far different circumstances than the vast majority of the other transfers referenced in this thread.

I don't see the problem in transfers anyway. If you are a parent and are willing to move to a city to let you kid go to a different school who is anyone to stop you?

It's no different than a kid going to a different school for academics or other activities.

Transfers should be a part of basketball. They are a part of everything else. If you are at job make 20,000 dollars a year and you can move and get a job making $100,000 a year you'd be crazy not to take it. I think if you move to a school to get more recognition it is the same thing. I cannot think of many schools that haven't benefitted from a transfer here and there. These kids come on their own. If a school was paying them or something I could see the problem. But, if not what is the beef?

They are transfers. They started high school with no intention of going to Holmes (more than likely) and ended up transferring to Holmes going into their sophomore year. They are transfers.

Anyways this is an Elliott Co. thread and we are way off subject. It appears it will be a rebuilding year, but the 16th region isn't that strong.
