April 19, 200917 yr Congrats to the KY Elite! They played great all weekend. My assessment of the weekend: There were 4 teams that stood out - Obviously KY Elite, DS All Stars, Louisville Legends and NKY Wolfpack. Those 4 teams dominated in pool play and shredded the other teams in bracket play until they faced each other. KY Elite size and DS All Stars athleticism was very impressive. All 4 teams demonstrated very agressive defensive styles and high scoring offensive attacks. The Elite's high game was 104 points and there were still 3 minutes left in the game and they played stall ball. All in all a fun weekend of basketball. The case was made that there should be 2 weekends (one where everyone plays, the next where the top 2 or 4 teams are omitted to crown the D2 champ) in Kentucky for the AAU championship. I would also like to congratulate the KY. Elite on a great tournament, a very solid team. However, IMO there were only 3 teams that stood out; KY. Elite, DS, and the Legends. There is no way you can put the Wolfpack in the same sentence with those teams. I don't think the Wolfpack would have shredded their pool had they not been moved out of the Legends pool at the last hour. The Wolfpack got moved to a very weak pool, and were never tested until they lost to the Elite. BTW, the three teams that stood out should have all played in D1. Great weekend of hoops!

Your opinion and you are entitled to it. There were no other teams that would've played with the Wolfpack except for the 3 you mentioned. The 3 teams you mentioned did play D1 because there was no division of tournaments.

Great weekend of hoops! 2 things on the Wolfpack. 1. Maybe they weren't challenged until the Elite but give them credit for being good enough not to have trouble. 2. The Wolfpack beat the Legends a few eeks ago in Louisville.

I agree there were only 3 teams that stood out. The Elite, DS All Stars and the Legends. I'm glad the Elite had to beat both of the other top 2 teams in bringing home the hardware. This left no question that they were the class of the tournament. Good luck in the Nationals.
April 20, 200917 yr I find it interesting that the Hatton kid is playing on the DS Allstars, U13 State Tournament. Didn't this kid play on Dixie's varsity squad?? Just thought he might be playing U15/16 if he has that much game................just sayin'. The hatton kid for DS All Stars did play Dixie Varsity, started Dixie JV. I think he has been playing with most of these boys since he was in the third grade under the tarheels name. I think he is more than capable of playing u15 aau, but as a personal choice likes playing with those boys. He is still only in the seventh grade and wants to have some fun from what his dad has said in the past.

Pool 1 - NKY Wolfpack Pool 2 - CKY Tigers (I do not know any of these teams very well) Pool 3 - KY Elite Pool 4 - Derek Smith All-Stars Pool 5 - Legends I know it is a blind draw but it is unfortunate that the two best teams will face off in the quarters. My pick overall is KY Elite. They will have a tough run of games on Sunday by beating DS, Wolfpack and Legends. Do only the top 4 teams qualify for Nationals? Nice picks Afi100guy. Speaking to his parents, they had even at one point thought about getting t-shirts with his birth certificate copied on it. I think by now anyone who has followed this age group of boys, knows the Hatton kid's age. He is thirteen years old. I will let it lie at that because there is no point in arguing about any aau rules or regulations. It is always up for debate when discussing AAU about kids ages. I think we would be beating a dead horse to continue commenting on a child's age. I would gather most parents place their children in AAU basketball to better their child as well as have them compete against the best of the best. I don't think it is really set up for critiscism everytime an exemption child's name is mentioned. Congrats to KY Elite

I am not disgruntled about anything, not really sure why you made that comment. I just like to get all the facts on the table. I have a question for you. Do you really think that age should not be discussed when it comes to competition in athletics involving kids between the ages of 9-15? I believe it to be a very relevant issue that involves great advantages during this age range. Everyone wants to only talk about what grade a kid is in, that is only half of the facts. I don't see what the big deal is in knowing how old a kid is, do you? Why does everyone get so defensive when age comes up? AAU rules allow for up to 18 months of disparity between players playing in the same division. You don't think that's a big advantage? So, I don't have any problems with the teams, kids or the coaches. It's just the society we live in today, the win at all cost mentality is alive and well. Personally, I would be embarrassed to watch my son ball up younger kids and watch his team beat people by 50. Guess it's whatever floats your boat.

I only asked why he would not play up in AAU since he plays up in school ball. I was not be critical of the kid. He is a fine player on a great team. :isurrender:
