April 15, 200917 yr Thanks! I'm not familiar with the Elite Players. Those studs from Walton on the DS All-Stars can sure play. There's only one player from Walton on the DS All-Stars squad. He's definitely a great shooter!

Those studs from Walton on the DS All-Stars can sure play. I find it interesting that the Hatton kid is playing on the DS Allstars, U13 State Tournament. Didn't this kid play on Dixie's varsity squad?? Just thought he might be playing U15/16 if he has that much game................just sayin'.
April 15, 200917 yr I never knew the Wolfpack were moved, however, the Legends entering as a D2 team is quite funny. Good luck this weekend Rainman! I definitely agree with you on this!
April 15, 200917 yr There's only one player from Walton on the DS All-Stars squad. He's definitely a great shooter! Who are the other Walton kids playing for? I think 3 of them played Frosh this year?
April 15, 200917 yr Who are the other Walton kids playing for? I think 3 of them played Frosh this year? Moeves played for the Wolfpack and I assume the other is Meiman, who is an 8th grader playing for the Wolfpack. McNeil is on DS All Stars.
April 15, 200917 yr Who are the other Walton kids playing for? I think 3 of them played Frosh this year? One plays for Walton and one plays for Wolfpack. There is an 8th grader who played frosh this past year and he plays for the 8th grade Wolfpack team.
April 15, 200917 yr Thanks for the info! There is a lot of talent in the 7th grade level. High School games should be a lot of fun to watch the next few years. It is good to see a lot of the kids working on the game playing AAU. I agree it is a shame only 18 teams heading to Lexington this weekend. Keenland is even running!!
April 15, 200917 yr Well I enjoy going to the KBA, I think that they do a great job, but this time they screwed this tournament up! If the DS Allstars and the Ky Elite are on the only teams that signed up for D1 why are they on the same side? If anything the top 4 teams(DS allstars, Leagands, Ky Elite and NKY Wolfpack) should be seeded so the BEST teams rep the state in nationals!!! Thats why they have seeding!!!

I agree but I've been told for years that a "blind draw" is used to seed teams. This will be my 7th year at the KBA for AAU state and I can always remember a "situation" that has made me wonder about a "blind draw". The KBA needs to rethink how they will conduct state tournaments in the future.

And, I think if those 2 teams were even slated to meet in the semis, it wouldn't be as big of a deal. Having said all that, I can guarantee you the teams they play up until the quarters will do their best not to make that meeting happen. As far as the blind draw, the only reason I brought up the fact the Wolfpack were originally in Pool 5 is because that makes it obvious it wasn't truly a blind draw because they changed it after posting it. But, I do agree, KBA typically does a good job.

I disagree, no way you can seed teams from all over the state that have not played each other. There are just too many teams with new players or unknowns that may not play ever weekend to be seen and ranked. See Afi100guy's comments regarding pool 2 where no one knows about these teams?
April 15, 200917 yr But the only 2 teams that signed up for D1 are haveing to play each other in to early. What they should have done is to make sure both of them have the chance to meet in the final! It only make since that way! The KBA is a great place for the State Championships but this pairing is not right or fair to the 2 teams that signed up for D1 state. But anyway I hope all the teams from all over the state play well and have fun!

It should not penalize a D2 team that could qualify for the nationals had the teams been placed in the proper level. Most D2 teams in this tourney wouldn't have a chance to finish that well in Nationals and I agree the best should represent the great state of KY. basketball, but the experience is what is the best for these kids to get them ready for the next level. I'm sure there are several teams playing this weekend that do not expect to win this tourney, but the coaches are letting the kids see the talent level out there and see what it takes to make them a better player for the future.

That's because there are numerous "D1" teams that play Nationals at D2, because they can't compete at the D1 National level. They just need to eliminate their divisions (there are no parameters), and have one open tournament like they are doing at state with a legitimate blind draw that is open to the public. Just MHO..................
