April 16, 200917 yr I havent seen many 13U teams play this year, but I would say KY Elite has a great chance at winning this. Also, the NKY Wolfpack have a nice team. I would say KY Elite is my favorite though, good group of kids, parents, and coaches best of luck to them.
April 16, 200917 yr I never knew the Wolfpack were moved, however, the Legends entering as a D2 team is quite funny. Good luck this weekend Rainman! Why would you find it funny? Wasn't you who said its up to the coaches and parents to make the decision whether to play D1 or D2?
April 16, 200917 yr Why would you find it funny? Wasn't you who said its up to the coaches and parents to make the decision whether to play D1 or D2? My comment has nothing to do with that. That comment was made specifically for Rainman who understood the jest of my comment. I can assure you that the parents had no input in the decision of the Legends coach. I could care less if they play D1, D2 or didn't play at all.
April 17, 200917 yr Who's coaching the Legends? Is it still the same guy who recently plead guilty to sexual assault? Previously found guilty of points shaving while playing for Northwestern? And who's currently on probation for a drug conviction in TX? That's someone we should have around our KIDS!!!!! Please someone tell me it's not the same coach. http://www.whas11.com/topstories/stories/whas11-topstory-090316-couch-alleged-abuse.3f01465e.html http://www.whas11.com/topstories/stories/whas11-topstory-090316-couch-alleged-abuse.3f01465e.html
April 17, 200917 yr A couple of comments, The KBA does not set the price for the AAU state tournament....AAU does. Talking about some of the kids playing varsity and playing in this tournament, this the STATE TOURNAMENT. This is for the best of the best, load up and come give it your best shot. I do wish there were two divisions but I am glad it is this way because to many teams play down in D2 and should be in D1 anyway. I am going to miss everyone this year, maybe I can make it up on Sunday. Good luck to everyone, I like the Elite to win the championship but DC could give them a real run for their money. Alot of kids at this age level are growing monthly so there could be some suprises when it all starts Friday night.

Unbelievable :idunno:. I can tell you that my son would not be playing for him.

Has never quit coaching them. Parents were interviewed on the news defending him saying how good a coach he was. Unbelievable what parents will overlook for their kids to be on a winning team

X is not equal to what KBA charges - they add on to increase their profit. Teams will stop paying $400+ (tournament fee + AAU registration) to play in a so-so tournament. Everyone will make excuses why their team didn't win or make it to the finals, the bottom line is show up and play and let the chips fall where they may! GO PACK!
April 17, 200917 yr The cost for these tournaments are nothing compared to the NCAA events. Just wait until these kids start playing 15u-17u. $500 to $600 per tournament is the norm.
April 17, 200917 yr Has never quit coaching them. Parents were interviewed on the news defending him saying how good a coach he was. Unbelievable what parents will overlook for their kids to be on a winning team If this coach stays with this team he will not be allowed to coach them in any NCAA event. Each coach has to be NCAA certified and one of the things that would disqualify him is a felony charge or any kind of sex charge. Lexus Nexis runs back ground checks on all of these coaches. If the parents have any aspirations of their kids playing college basketball they will need to make a change.

My complaint is more about the quality of the tournament. I have coached in 8 AAU state tournaments in KY. Each year the amount of teams and quality of competition gets worse. Paying $500 - $600 per tournament is not the problem, playing in a quality tournament is my major concern.
April 19, 200917 yr KY Elite beats DS in the quarterfinals. Then, beat Wolfpack in the semis. I heard the Wolfpack coach was thrown out of the game within the first two minutes over a traveling call. I have never been impressed by the refs at the KBA.
April 19, 200917 yr Congrats to KY Elite for winning the championship!!  :ylsuper: :dancingpa
April 19, 200917 yr Congrats to the KY Elite! They played great all weekend. My assessment of the weekend: There were 4 teams that stood out - Obviously KY Elite, DS All Stars, Louisville Legends and NKY Wolfpack. Those 4 teams dominated in pool play and shredded the other teams in bracket play until they faced each other. KY Elite size and DS All Stars athleticism was very impressive. All 4 teams demonstrated very agressive defensive styles and high scoring offensive attacks. The Elite's high game was 104 points and there were still 3 minutes left in the game and they played stall ball. All in all a fun weekend of basketball. The case was made that there should be 2 weekends (one where everyone plays, the next where the top 2 or 4 teams are omitted to crown the D2 champ) in Kentucky for the AAU championship.
