Unfortunately, that doesn't matter. Since it occurred after their 1st contact date (July 30 for Aug 11th student's first day) it counts as a scrimmage thus leaving them no more. This happened to Covington Catholic a few years back. Any more scrimmages this year would be illegal and result in penalties.

Looks like Johnson Cent better find another scrimmage. Whitley is done with theirs now. It is a long time till opening day w/o a scrimmage.

So Johnson Central and Whitley Co were supposed to scrimmage one another. I thought teams generally don't schedule another same class team in a preseason scrimmage maybe knowing they might meet up in the regular season or the 4th round of the playoffs. Or maybe knowing the team from the north stands in the way of one team, they thought this would of been the only time to do it.:thumb: I am pretty confident that both of these teams will have to travel through Ft Thomas this coming year. Regardless they will have to travel through NKY to get to Bowling Green.

Don't count on that. I seem to recall that CovCath was doing something similar at a camp at Thomas More College. Because there were multiple high schools involved and during the camp CovCath competed against 2 schools, it counted against the 2 scrimmages permitted. If I'm Coach Black, I'm on the phone like right now with the KHSAA getting some clarification.

I noticed that Coach Matney just send out an e mail on the football coaches listserve looking for a scrimmage on August 14th. Not sure however if it's caused by Whitley not being able to still scrimmage them or not. Was Whitley supposed to scrimmage Johnson Central on the 14th?

It will count as one scrimmage. Even if they were doing 7 on 7. Once you have started contact 7 on 7 will count as 1 scrimmage.

I don't believe the Johnson Central scrimage is going to happen, thats a shame because now the Colonels will be heading to Lexington Catholic with out being feild tested. Would have loved to watch Whitley and Johnson Central get it on. Maybe they will meet in the play offs.

That is my understanding as well.

Whitley and Pulaski scrimmaged last year, and ended up facing off in the playoffs.
