His scoring doesn't impress me as much as his penetration and hitting the open person.

 

That is what I mean when I say court awareness, he knows where everybody is on the floor very well and can get them the ball, and he can also score very well.

Jared Polson is the Junior to watch. The Kid can go 1 on the floor and is a one man press breaking machine. He does not have alot of material to go with him but he makes everyone on the team better. The key is he knows how to use his teammates to make himself better. Polson can put up big #'s in the scoring column or in the assist column. He takes what the D gives him.

 

Faulkner is the Man and has proven it!

Ethan and Justice are hands down the best PGs in the tournament. Ethan is a triple threat with points, assists, and rebounds. He orchestrates the offense like a coach on the floor. He makes good decisions with the ball. I think the folks in Rupp will come away impressed with his overall game and especially his rebounding. One of the best 6'1" rebounding guards I have seen. He is relentless & amazing in getting the ball in among the tall timber on the inside. Wouldn't surprise me if he had a 20 point game with 12 rebounds and 12 assist.

Justice is a talented player, but in terms of point guards Ethan distributes the ball to his team better. He is a true floor general:thumb:

Wilson for Corbin is sometimes unsung but does alot for his team to play well, can hit the outside shot when open and gets to the basket as well. He will have his hands full vs Eastern but should be up to the task.

 

Isaac Mills is one my favorite PGs. Plays hard and is the engine that makes the Redhounds run. He single handedly kept them in 1 or 2 games in the region last year. His engine never stops and is a very heady ballplayer. I can think of a ton of team who would have been region contenders if he were on their squad. When he got into early foul trouble against North Laurel, it really hurt the Hounds and to Coach Conway's credit, he took advantage of it. If he stays out of foul trouble, Corbin is a legit contender.

 

Justice for Shelby Valley is another impressive PG I had the pleasure of seeing this year. Distributes well and sees the floor. Excellent passer.

However Whitaker plays is how well Hazard plays.

I almost forgot the defense also. He was named EKC defensive player of the year and also won the 16th Region Tournament top defensive player award. Add to that three straight 16th Region Tournament MVP awards and a triple double in every region tournament game. In fact, both Faulkners are like those bees that keep swarming around your head on a hot summer day. You swat at them to get away, never hit them, and they never go away. They just really get on your nerves.

Apples and oranges, I would take any of them on a team, thats why their teams are at Rupp this week. Polson is a special player to watch. I agree with the supporting cast remark earlier but him making them better defines Jarrod. I will like to see him play on a bigger floor he will be that much more hard to guard.

We are on post 40 and I can't believe that no one has mentioned Delquan Thomas from Eastern.

 

He may be the best of all of them! He is strong, handles the ball well under pressure, rebounds better than any of the other guards and his team has won the 7th region where he has faced more pressure defense than any other region, with the possible exception of the 11th.

 

I think Justice is an excellent player but would struggle with Eastern as everyone they put on the floor is at least 6'0" and far longer and more athletic than he is. And yes, I have seen him play!

I understand what your saying and have the upmost respect for the 7th region. I guess the one game that I can think of that may make me think he wouldnt struggle is the Walton GA game in December. Walton had five kids that were longer and taller than Justice. The two kids that tried to gaurd him was Glen Rice Jr who has signed with Ga Tech and a point gaurd with the last name Harrow who has verballed to NC State. Justice torched them for over 25 points and Valley won by over 20. He completely dominated the game with scoring, defense and assist.

I watched Hazard play in the Lex Cath tournament after Xmas. Just wondered how they made it to the state tournament?

I would agree with one of the earlier posts about Rico Johnson of Holmes. He has been playing point quite a bit lately. If that qualifies him for this discussion, then he has to be at the top of the list.
