I don't have anything against Elliott County personally, and I think it would be kind of neat to see them win it, as someone who hails from a smaller school.

Point 1 you mention above, however, hits the nail on the head with me. I'm just kind of worn out from it. The lovefest is just a bit too sickeningly sweet for me to stomach. Has nothing to do with jealousy.

Another thing that wears me out is the underdog mentality. Stop with it. You're one of the favorites in the tournament, and easily the sentimental favorite. It would be no surprise to see them win it. They have been ranked as high as No. 1 on more than a few occasions. You can't use the "nobody believed in us" card if you've been ranked higher than everybody else.

I have to laugh at the 52 pt comment. Do you really believe they could beat Holmes scoring 52 pts. against them? Teams that like to get up and down the court don't play zone defense and I doubt their man to man could hold Holmes to 52 pts.

Obviously EZ you haven't been paying to much attention to most of the threads regarding Holmes this year & especailly the last month or so. All eveyone is talking about is the low offensive production even the Holmes fans! Especially since a lot of it seems to be by the coaches design according to some Holmes & 9th Region fans. Go back & read some of the comments.

If they both make it to saturday morning we will see.

I doubt Elliott will score more then 30 points because Holmes is so tall and athletic. Elliott hasnt played anybody EVER that has 6-7 guys that can take quarters off the top of the backboard.

This thread is about Elliott County and Anderson County. Let's get back on the topic.

If you want to discuss Holmes or a potential Holmes/Elliott matchup, this is the wrong thread.

I think it funny to read some of the post about Elliott. When they shoot bad they get beat? Do any of you ever give the other team any credit for them shooting bad? Or is just them? You know most teams are coming in trying to make them shoot bad. The other team could have something to do with it when it happens.

Just to add to that...are there teams that typically win when they shoot bad? :D

Thanks, Papa. That's been another beef with me about EC. It's never the other team that beats them; they can only beat themselves.

Shelby Valley got so little credit for beating EC, you'd think it never happened.

Will any local radio stations (Ashland) be doing the play by play for this one ?

I guess my post is bringing the ire out in some. First, I am a Raceland guy, I am not from Elliott County. Secondly, my post was to say, imo, when Elliott County is playing well, I like their chances to win it all. If they shoot poorly (I don't care who gets credit for their poor shooting), they'll have a hard time winning. Some teams, like Holmes, can shoot poorly and usually win due to the tempo and style of play they bring on the court. Elliott County plays break neck speed for 32 minutes and if they are off, you can expose them. Anderson County is one of those teams that can definitely expose them, they did in January but Elliott was fortunate enough to get the W. I still say EC puts their signature on the game Thursday night and then we can debate Fridays game.

With 5 guys capable of scoring, Elliott County should get enough offense to keep them within striking distance against anybody, IMO.

I agree. I also think their defense doesn't get enough credit.

Jim, I agree we are the sentimental favorite with those on the other side of the tracks (those that are pulling for Elliott) which will be great numbers that will be witnessed at Rupp next week. Unlike many of the Elliott fans though, I tend to agree with the Holmes (and others) fans that the BGP Poll is the most accurate. In that poll we have never been any higher than maybe 4th and in the final poll sit at #7. There are four teams in the state tournament (Holmes, Shelby Valley, Eastern, and Lexington Catholic) ranked above us and probably for the right reasons. That puts us as underdogs by the closest to so called experts that one can get. Are we in a group of 6-8 teams that could win the tournament. Yes, but that doesn't remove the underdog label in my opinion. May be splitting fine lines here.

Very nice post, Lion Mania.

Probably not, but that's the way it goes when you have a high octane offensive team.
