I'm going with Anderson in a first-round thriller...first round games are often first round traps for teams that count outside shooting as their primary strengths...even if you played in the Sweet16 last year, Rupp is just an entirely different arena for jump shots...heck, I once interviewed a kid after a game who told me it was somewhat disorienting the first time he went up for a layup with all that darkness behind the backboard...

 

...Anderson's strengths are interior passing, defense, and rebounding. May or may not be good enough to carry the Bearcats far in the tourney, but I really like their chances against a superb Elliott County team in the first round...

 

Of course, AC also has the motivation of their narrow loss to EC earlier...

Wow! Great post. I agree with all of this except the shooting factor for Elliott. They can shoot 42% in a dark gym at 1am. I think they'll show Anderson that the previous meeting was a fluke and they are atleast 10 points better than last time.

Elliott County is a hard team to defend full court,or in a half court situation. Rare is the high school team that has all five starters shooting the three ball,and handling the ball to break down a press. AC may find a different set of Lions to deal with this time around. EC by 12.

Penny will need a monster game, team play great defense, and AC must get the lead and control the tempo, they might have a chance.

I think they will see a different Elliott team this time around. They saw pretty much the same one that Shelby Valley saw the first time around. I think this time around they will see the one Ballard and Mason saw in late Feb. If they do then no 18 point lead in the 2d quarter this time. Probably no lead at all this time!!!

Welcome to BGP! 8:00 p.m. Tomorrow, Thursday per KHSAA, it will start after the Mason Co./Shelby Valley game finishes. When you by tickets, you get both games in the session, so you can watch Mason and SV play, they start at 6:30.

Anderson will go home early. The big stage is what Penny loves. Chest bumpin and so on. He is the best player I have seen in a long time. He could have used some leadership from the sideline at ACHS. Class is what I'm talkin about. Elliott has Class and knows how to play TEAM ball. Elliott will play Friday.

I hope you're right. Elliott does, generally, spreads the offense around. My biggest fear is that the offense may not produce. We have seen that happen several times this season. Who cares why the offense does not produce--be it the opposition's defense, off shooting night, or tidal forces. The offense can't be off from here on out.

Another food for thought, is that the floor is longer, that will help Elliott.
