Rowan County 54 Elliott County 35

The votes are done at half time I think, before the game is decided. It would only take one vote. Some coaches see players different. It may have been the rebounds of the other girl.

I agree that Martin played a great tournament. I really like the way she plays.

The votes have to be turned in by the end of the 3rd quarter, and the player receiving the most votes for All Tournament team is selected as the MVP. With that being said I thought Martin should have been the MVP.

I do not like to knock officials to much but I have to say it was a very bad officiated game both ways! I saw 3 games of the tourney & all 3 were very poorly officiated IMO. The small bald ref is really bad! The missed foul call by Riddle on Shae Ferguson on the break away layup was one of the top 5 missed calls I have ever seen. That said, just before that Riddle gets knocked to the floor an obvious foul & there was no call. However the missed call on Fergusons layup attempt came at a crucial time & could have made things a little more interesting.

He is the worst official I have seen all year.

Congratulations to Rowan County. I hope that you enjoy the repeat and go win it all in Bowling Green! Win or lose, represent the 16th Region well.....and I know you'll do that.:thumb:

Thank you glad to see someone say that, I would have liked to seen Elliott win. But Rowan is just a better team. Just like on the boys side East was the second best team in the region played Elliott tough but they are not as good as Elliott that's not saying anything bad but as kgsob said earlier that's the truth.

Great post 16th. I cannot stand to hear people go on and on about officiating. I have no idea on any stats but usually a team can look at things like unforced turnovers, missed FT's, rebounding difference, mental mistakes, etc. and see where the game was won or lost. Every game ever played has had some bad calls, that is just the way it is. I wasn't there and certainly am not trying to bash anyone personally on here at all. I just hate to see very good seasons by both teams (obviously, both were in the region final) brought down by more talk about officiating than the game.

Congrats to the Rowan Co. Lady Vikings and good luck at the girls Sweet Sixteen!! :ylsuper:

Also, congrats to the Elliot Co. Lady lions on a great season :thumb:. I love to see the small Class A schools do well.

Rowan County is a deserving champion and will represent the 16th well in Bowling Green. Likewise, Griffith is a deserving MVP. Let's drop all the conspiracy theories and congratulate those who deserve it.

Someone answer me this, how can any Coach in the 16th region not vote for Rowan's Martin to be MVP? Martin scored over 50 pts. in three games against a lot better teams and was without a doubt the best player on the court tonight. Griffith is a good player and if her team would have won than I wouldn't have a question.

If anyone watched the whole tournament as I did than they can't deny the fact that Katie Martin was the real MVP of this tournament. Katie got drilled by those Coaches who are jealous of her team and of Coach Tackett.

Katie Martin played a hell of a tournament and I am sure that she wouldn't trade a trip to Diddle for any MVP award.

I certainly agree with this post. Martin was MVP.

Congrats to the Elliott Lady Lions!!

Rowan isn't going to lose in Morehead.

Great game by both teams.

I think all of the players from the other teams were at the Rowan vs. East game and the tone was set in that game. The foul ratio was 7 to 1 at the end of the 1st quarter and 20 to 7 at the end of 3 quarters in favor of Rowan. The tone being that Rowan was ranked in the state and the favorite to win the region and the defending champions of the region, so all the calls were going their way. So a team couldn't just play a good game and beat Rowan; they had to play an above outstanding game to beat Rowan. The rest of the region needs to learn from them and play a tougher schedule, get recognition in the state, and be the favorite to win the region next year in order to get some calls. I know that doesn't factor in and that they just call it the way they see it, but that's not how it seems. The complaints about the lopsided calls is not meant as a slight to Rowan or the 9th region refs. It's just not what we are used to in the 16th region. As the saying goes, "You don't know what you've got until it's gone."

Rowan played hard and deserved to win. I congratulate them for being an outstanding team and I think they will represent the region well at state. Good Luck and make us proud! We will be rooting for you to win the state. Also, congratulations to Elliott for having an outstanding season!

Congratulations Rowan. I am anything by happy about the game, but the cookie has crumbled. I am glad the 9th region officials will be out of here soon. I don't think they were mentally prepared for the tournament. With that being said, Rowan deserved to win the game last night. They did everything that was necessary to win. Elliott choked for a few minutes, argued among themselves, and failed to execute. High school kids do those things. It's a part of growing up.

Rowan is the better team, and nothing said will convince me otherwise.

Griffith is the MVP. I do wonder why Cantrell didn't leave her in the game for one more rebound (to break the record though).

THANK YOU ELLIOTT GIRLS. You (along with your male counterparts) have given us an amazing year. The groundwork you have helped lay over the course of your careers will ensure that the programs at Elliott will continue to improve. I don't foresee another 1984 again! Thank You!

Great post!:thumb:

Griffith had over 50 points also and over 50 rebounds, around 20-25 block's and several assist a game!! She was very deserving of MVP!!!

If you based it just on points there were others beside Martin who had over 50 points in the three games!!!! It not MVP on the winning team it is MVP for the Tourney!!

When Lakin was awarded MVP I personally watched the Rowan coach shake his head

"No" several times and say...Sympathy..that just sympathy!!!!! So some have a reason for not congratulating Rowan!!

As for the conspiracy theory Matlock..I believe I will hang on to it!!!!!!!!!!:thumb:

I highly doubt that Cantrell had any clue as to how many rebounds she had. He was busy coaching his team. He did a great job. Congrats on a fine year Mark.
