Rowan County 54 Elliott County 35

Featured Replies

Elliott got the ball that time. Riddle had 3 fouls at the time and that should have been her 4th. The other time was the 1st half when she got sandwiched by 2 Rowan players and lost the ball out of bounds they gave it to Rowan.

Congratulations to the Rowan Co. girls, they played the game tonight to win but we are so proud of the Elliott Co. Lady Lions for all of their accomplishments this season.

For the first 3 quarters of this game, they gave Rowan "all they wanted" IMO. The refs did not win or lose this game for Elliott (IM0); however, there were several horrible calls, such as an Elliott Co. player lying under 3 Rowan Co. players on the floor-after being pushed down and no foul called?:idunno: Another example would be when an Elliott player went up to shoot and got shoved to the floor out of bounds, almost striking her head on the goal post and the ball was turned over to Rowan Co, with no foul called?:idunno:

That being said, the Elliott Co Team has no reason to hang their heads, they have taken the Elliott Co Girls Basketball Program above what anyone thought possible and they should be proud.:clap:

Good luck to all the Senior Lady Lions in their future endeavors!!!:ylsuper::ylsuper:

And you really don't think those horrible "no-call's" had any affect on EC or are you just being politically correct.

No, I am choosing to focus on all the great accomplishments of this group of young ladies this season and during their high school careers. I would have loved to see an Elliott Co. win. As far as "politically correct", I wouldn't have pointed out the "horrible "no-call's"" if I didn't think they had an impact on at least the final numbers on the board.

Well in your post you said the ref's didnt win or lose the game then you mention all the no calls which would have an affect on the game. Now in this post you say you wouldnt have mentioned them if you didn't think they had an affect. Just forget it. I am on the same team you are.

We are on the same team Amos and we both know where this EC girls basketball program has come from, to where they are today. They just played in the Championship Game of the 16th Regional Tournament, "THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME"!! From never having won a district game to "THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME" for the 16th Region. WOW!!! It really is amazing! :notworthy:

Do you have Rowans stats also, or just Elliott's?

Rowan shot 17 of 41 from the field, 2 of 13 from 3 pt land.

Someone answer me this, how can any Coach in the 16th region not vote for Rowan's Martin to be MVP? Martin scored over 50 pts. in three games against a lot better teams and was without a doubt the best player on the court tonight. Griffith is a good player and if her team would have won than I wouldn't have a question.

If anyone watched the whole tournament as I did than they can't deny the fact that Katie Martin was the real MVP of this tournament. Katie got drilled by those Coaches who are jealous of her team and of Coach Tackett.

Katie Martin played a hell of a tournament and I am sure that she wouldn't trade a trip to Diddle for any MVP award.

The votes are done at half time I think, before the game is decided. It would only take one vote. Some coaches see players different. It may have been the rebounds of the other girl.

I agree that Martin played a great tournament. I really like the way she plays.

Wow!

Some of the worst officiating I have ever seen, GO RADIO. Last nights game and tonights game was terrible as far as refs. Rowan County played a good game, but too bad the second half was ruined by the zebras.:puke:

I wasn't there but I too heard that the officiating was terrible!:ohbrother:

The worst called game I have ever seen. The guy with the shaved head was a pure dunce. EC may have lost but he put them there for sure.

I'm right there with ya Ms. Liberty!

I can't say that the refs "lost" the game for EC but they sure tried to take the heart and soul out of them!

Congrats to Rowan County. Go to Bowling Green and show the rest of the state what the 16th region has for talent, ability, motivation and determination!!

I do not like to knock officials to much but I have to say it was a very bad officiated game both ways! I saw 3 games of the tourney & all 3 were very poorly officiated IMO. The small bald ref is really bad! The missed foul call by Riddle on Shae Ferguson on the break away layup was one of the top 5 missed calls I have ever seen. That said, just before that Riddle gets knocked to the floor an obvious foul & there was no call. However the missed call on Fergusons layup attempt came at a crucial time & could have made things a little more interesting.

Thats why I say there is no doubt Coach Cantrell is Coach of the Year! What an unbelievable job he has done while there in a few short years. I have all the respect in the world for him for what he has done & how he handles his team.
