Beechwood played man to man the entire game last time. They haven't played zone all season.

Holmes should win this game pretty easily. Beechwood is a solid team but they don't match-up with Holmes. Hopefully coach Henley can get the troops ready and get a "statement" win heading into the region. Beechwood isn't going to lay down for them though, hopefully it will be entertaining but at the end of the day I will go with Holmes by 15.

Holmes comes out and get's a sizeable lead in the first half and goes on to win by 16.

If Beechwood wins, how big of an upset is it? Beechwood is 22-4 and has beaten Highlands.

It is still a sizable upset, Holmes is the number 2 team in the state of Kentucky. Beechwood is solid but they are not Holmes.

The key for Beechwood is being able to counter the Holmes runs. Holmes is going to make a big run at some point in the game but Beechwood has to be able to counter it.

 

First game, Holmes started the game on a 9-0 run but Beechwood countered with a 14-4 run the rest of the quarter and first minute of the second quarter to take a lead. After that run by Beechwood, Holmes outscored them 15-6 the rest of the first half, and Beechwood was never able to recover.

 

If they want to win, they can't let Holmes make those big runs like they did in the first game....which goes back to my point of stating I don't think Beechwood plays good enough defense to beat Holmes. Despite the offensive woes the last few games for Holmes, Beechwood doesn't want to get in an uptempo, quick paced scoring game with Holmes or they'll get ran off the floor.

Small gym may help Beechwood and I look for the game to be close for a while, but will take Holmes 59 to 47. It almost seems Holmes is over passing at times and gives up open looks.

Actually, I think the small gym will help Holmes if they press. Beechwood's biggest weakness is against a good press and the small gym will hurt them by making it easier for Holmes to trap. Beechwood has pretty good quickness and they like to push the ball up the floor. The big court at BOK Center will help their game in the regionals.

On paper Holmes seems to have the clear advantage and my guess is that they will probably win,however, this is the tourney, and it is at Holy Cross and not Holmes. Beechwood will make a strong showing but come up a little short in the end. 63-56.

If Beechwood can execute, this game will come down to the fourth quarter. Beechwood will stick with Holmes all game and I think there will be a lot of scoring lead changes.

I'm a little shocked by the number of votes the Tigers have gotten, starting to make some believers.

Holmes by 5 in a very good game. Beechwood plays good team ball and will be lead by Beuttel again. With a little luck, and Holmes playing an off game??? .... You never know.
