Obviously you don't know the rules... I know the ref that made that call it was CORRECT!! Here is the deal... you don't know the rules then you want to call someone out that does? They are lucky that particular ref had a clue what was going on. It was an attempted shot in the ref's eyes. What's the difference if he would have shot it, hit the rim or backboard, no one touch it and it goes over halfcourt? None... That is why it isn't over and back. Actually the ref could have called it over and back and saved himself a bunch of grief but he had the guts to make the correct call! What else do you want from the stripes? They are there to make if fair for the kids.... not please the people in the stands that don't know the rules.

The difference is that it didn't hit the rim or the backboard. He essentially airballed it. If someone shoots and the ball does not hit the rim, it is an airball and if they go get it without anyone else touching it (like Preston did), it is like passing it to himself and A WALK!

The comparison that you made is not the same thing.

We will see what happens when these teams meet in Region. Because it will happen and should be a heck of a game.

Will be interesting to see the regional draw. Mason Co needs to hit their free throws, and GRC has got to get more scoring, than just 4 players.

As stated before I also believe that Robbie Stenzel proved that he is the best player in the region. :thumb:

Russ should have something to say about that come regional tournament.:thumb:

You can shoot an airball and be the first to get it and it is not a walk!

The POY is not just determined in the regional tourney.

More stats from the game. What jumped out to me is the free throws attempted and made. Clark won that battle and hence the game. The rest is pertty even ( see bolded part below)

The Royals led by as many as 10 points in the fourth quarter, but as has been the case in all of their losses (and many of their wins), they struggled from the free throw line. Mason County shot 11-of-19 from the line and missed the front end of two one-and-ones during Clark's late 9-0 run. The Cardinals were 17-of-20 from the charity stripe.

Mason County led 16-15 after the first quarter, 28-25 at the half and 40-32 after finishing the third on an 8-0 run. Clark County held a slight edge in rebounding (28-27) and outshot Mason 43 percent (18-of-42) to 42 percent (18-of-43). The Cardinals turned the ball over 10 times to the Royals' eight.

I know the player is not just determined in the regional tournament, I was just stating that Russ has came up big as well during season's end as well.:thumb:

It is the same thing because a shot it just a judgement of the official. If he thought he was shooting the ball then it was a shot attempt.

The point is many said Russ was hands down the favorite, that is not the case.

I look for Stenzel to be contained next time Mason Co plays GRC.:thumb:

You would have thought Mason would have heard of Robbie before this game, huh?

Well they weren't containing Robbie because they were to worried about Zollo everytime they even thought of passing to him the doubled down! If they plan on doubling Robbie they will be leaving someone open which could be worse than just Robbie going off for 30! and as of the POY debate I have to say Robbie showed himself last night in the POY battle. He out played Russ and showed his true form as a ball player.

Let's take the last minute of the game and let's consider all the questionable calls. First when Gilbert was dribbling and fell with the ball and slid a couple of feet on the floor, that's a walk. Number 2 ,when Middleton took the ball to the basket and walked two steps and Clark got called for the block. Should again ,have been a walk and could have been called a charge. Clark should have had the ball in either case with the score tied. Stenzel did get bumped but why were the defensive players even close when he was that distance from the basket. If Stenzel would have missed 2 of those free throws , nothing would have been said about that call. It was said on one of these quotes that fouls shouldn't be called on last second shots, and I ask why not, the clock is still running and the game is stilled going on. I saw that happen in a middle school game where a boy shot the ball with 2 seconds remaining and was clobbered and there was a no call. When asked , the official said "you just don't make calls like that with 2 seconds left" and I thought ,how stupid. :taz:

Exactly!:thumb::clap:

A foul is a foul, whether it's in the first minute of the game or the last minute of the game.
