I must admit that I find these type of threads perplexing. Since several people posting in these threads are the same as those blasting Elliott County for playing business as usual schedule, but playing with business as usual students, but maybe its just me.

You sure about that..? :sssh:

Since transfer rules dont apply until a student reaches high school, I wouldnt consider that situation transfers. If most of you are referring to transfers counting even before high school, I guess you got me.:isurrender:

I know families and kids transfer for good reasons, but I think we all know that when you get three or four or five kids transferring into the same school system it isn't fare and you can try and legitimize it all you want. Its basically cheating other kids from a fair chance. We know the real reasons how and why they my be there. Its cheating within a system that says you can cheat, just be sure to cheat this way.

So your a coach and a kid moves in and is a better player than another kid or kids at the school. Should you stick with the kid who is born and raised in the county over a kid who can beat him out? I think a coach should play the kids that give the tea the best chance to win and behaves himself.

It would be somewhat better if they did transfer sometime around the sixth to eight grades, the community would have a little to get to know them, and not have to read their bio.

I do feel a rewording of the rules needs to take place. If the ruling of the KHSAA is going to be overruled by appeals, even though there is an obvious stand according to the rules, then the rules need to be changed.

I am not challenging the appeals committe for making their decision, just stating that not all systems will challenge, or have the means to show legal muscle. Since the rules in place have been clearly overturned, change the rules in place and put everyone on an even field.

How are we defining "transfers?" Kids that played at another school before playing at their current school?

Kids who played VARSITY basketball before transferring to another school.

Just trying to make a point that EC isn't as "homegrown" as some of the EC faithful proclaim...and don't be surprised to see T. Knipp not finish his career at EC, but rather in the 10th region.............

KHSAA should cut it down to only one transfer per year. If you have more then one, the others must play JV for that season before playing varsity.

So what is the conclusion here? Can a program maintain year in year out a top 5 ranking by "developing players" that come through their feeder programs, or would the program need to get transfers on a regular basis?

There will be transfers most every year, so what should the strategy be for schools trhat love their basketball?
