Congrats to Coach Summitt for her 1000th win.

Her recond stands at 1000 wins,187 losses a pct. of .842

Her best season was the 1997-98 season with a 39-0.

IMO one of the greatest Basketball Coaches ever men or women.

 

Absolutely Coach! Pat Summit imo is almost single handed brought womens college basketball to the level that it is today. When she started in the mid 70's girls b.b. imo was not taken very seriously in most places. Now they are packing arenas at alot of schools. Certainly not all of them but the popularity of womens basketball and womens sports as a whole imo has raised bc of Past Summit and what she has done for the game.

I heard Bob Knight quote a stat on her 1,000 wins to put things into perspective......"a coach would have to coach for 30 years with 33 wins per season and they would still come up short of Pat Summit" :scared:

 

Pat Summit imo just may be the greatest coach in college basketball history, mens or womens. She imo is certainly amoung the very few elite of the sports history.

I had the opportunity to write a paper about a Contemporary Female Leader, and I went with Pat Summit. My teacher was very happy with the paper, worked out pretty well that he was a big fan of Ms. Summit.

 

What a great accomplishment.

When measuring coaches and their success what would the equivalent number of wins be for Men's basketball?

 

If you taks stock in Title IX, the equivalent would be 1,000...

I knew that answer was coming but , seriously, how many wins do you have to have in the men's game to have it equate to 1000 in the women's?

The equivalent would be 1,000 REGARDLESS of sex, a win is a win!
