Suggestion also put him on the radio at halftime or is that what your're saying about being introduced. They did the same thing a few years ago with new baseball coach Greg Logan.:clap:

A very important board meeting scheduled for Monday, February 16th at Argillite Elementary School AT 6:00PM. There will be discussion of the money allotted for the football program. Everyone interested is encouraged to attend. The School Officials also stated that Coach Copely will be at the school on Friday in meetings with the School Officials and talking with the students. Coach Copely will also be at the last regular season Boys Basketball game on Saturday to be introduced to the fans and supporters. Everyone needs to come out and support our program. The more support from the community we have, the better we can have a chance for our children to have the best of all sports programs here at Greenup Co.High School. :thumb:

Does anybody know anything on the field turf? I hear that the middle school 7th & 8th grade will be joining back in the EKC. This would allow them to have a chance to be in the KYMSFA. Which could possible have a middle school state championship. I know Morgan Co. 8th and Ashland Verity 7th grades competed from the area last year.

Love it! Competing together at an earlier age, combined with the extra competitive advantage Greenup will have under a combined team, and we could start seeing alot of positive changes down the road for Greenup County.

Who will be the starting 11 on both sides? I know theres going to be more upcoming juniors that need to step up. Who will it be?

We had a unified middle school team prior to the new middle schools and it was at McKell. The problem back then was that South Shore had a pee wee football team, but no JFL.

I got to thinking, Greenup basketball was at it's best in the 1980's and guess how many feeder teams (elementary schools) were playing organized ball? Eleven. Just a point to ponder.

I'd say one of the problems that it was at one end of the county instead of at the high school more so than not having a JFL program.

Having the team at the High School is the best way to go, we are all Musketeers. (Not just McKell people, or Wurtland people.) Hopefully a combined team will start mending these differences and soon we will no longer label folks by which end of the County they are from...

The biggest thing is that GC wasn't getting hammered by good teams then. The question then would be "If it isn't broke don't fix it". But now GC has been getting hammered the last 4years. It's time for a change and not just a coaching change!

The one, combined team may work, but my concern is: Greenup County is a 4A school, and has to compete with like sized schools, thus numbers are important. I worry that only having one team will mean that Greenup County will only be receiving 20 football players at the freshmen level. That is not enough for a school the size of Greenup County. I honestly think that it would be better to try to boost the numbers at the two middle schools to support two teams, that would send 40 football players to the high school each year and be more in line with the numbers needed for a 4A school. Now, with that said, if you don't have the numbers, then you don't have the numbers.

Last year, with the two seperate teams we still only had a freshman class of about 20. Same thing the year before! I do think it is a numbers issue, the word on the street was that Wurtland might not even have enough players for a team next year.

 

Beating Raceland and Russell would be more than nice, it would be FANTASTIC! but, you are right we have to win in our district!
