I know Boyd Co. Middle School had spring ball until couple of years ago.

I know both principles, both coaches, AD, and a few people from the community, Mike Raby was put in charge of this. I think it is a very fair mix of people.

KHSAA does not regulate Junior High sports. So, it's free and clear.

 

Thanks for the clarification. I will say that it suprises me that there is not some sort of regulation over Junior High football by some association or group. Seeing that everyone seems to want to pigeon hole football in some shape or fashion.

I heard the meeting went really well. Sound like everybody agreed on combining the middle schools. The only real issue was the money part and how they was going to do everything. Coach Copely wants everything first class or he don't want to do it. Every person I have talked to has talked very highly about him. He wants the middle school coach's to put in their time with him learning his offense and defense. He wants to be apart of before the middle school and JFL programs.

This is an excellent start. I am pleased to see Greenup County finally getting the support needed to become a first class football program. I hope everyone can continue to remain positive and find ways to support the program.

So is there any word when we will know what they have decided for sure?Also does anyone have info on if Sammons is staying till the end of the year or will the new coach be taking his place when the kids get back to school?

I think we will find ou what the commite has decided at the next BOE meeting. Baker is doing all he can to get Coach Copley here asap.

Do you have the date for that meeting? The BOE schedule has not yet been updated for 2009.

Since we are talking about the future of GC football. I know that Coach Copley is really excited about 190 JFL players in the county last year, and the level of talent that is there. 3rd through 6th grade last year all had great seasons.

The JFL program makes all the difference. Raceland has a realtively new program. The 2008 senior class is the first to complete the entire JFL program and has many strong classes following it. It will only help Greenup get better. Running the High School offense will solidify things, too!:thumb:
