Jurgens / MSU, Stein / Gardner Webb, Bathiani / Western Carolina, Cecil / MSU (declined offer and joined the UK squad as a walk-on)

 

There are a slew of other HHS athletes that are currently enjoying D-III and NAIA ball. Perhaps not at the D-1 level but having just as much fun...

 

I am talking about the top 120 D 1 level - a school that could at least theoretically play in the BCS title game.

Unfortunately for northern Kentucky, looks like just one will be joining the D1 - BCS ranks! Hopefully next year this trend will be snapped...

Thanks. Maniello is the only N. Ky. player listed there. Once again, it seems N. Ky. does not get the D1 scholarships you would expect with the quality of teams up here. No Highlands players getting D1 looks?

 

How about the last few years? What players from N. Ky. have signed D1 letters over the past 5-10 years? Is this just a down year on the D1 scale?

59 signees from the Greater Cincinnati area and only 1 from N. Ky. The 59 signees represents not only D1 but D2 and D3 as well. Either the data base is corrupt or there is a N Ky disconnect.... check out http://www.nky.com. :irked:

You can have all of the talent in the world, but if you don't fit certain criteria, D1 is improbable.

I don't know if I would go that far, but you are right. Teipel at Beechwood is a perfect example of a very talented athlete with some size who seems to just not be the fit the BCS D1 recruiters want. A lot of people are surprised he isn't getting a BCS D1 offer.

I may have stated this before but I love how Beechwood gets the grade schoolers involved in the football spirit. You see them on game day walking to school with their Tiger jerseys on and they were invited to the signing ceremony yesterday. That's part of the excitement about becoming a Tiger.
