February 2, 200917 yr The article suggests that mom and dad are getting ready to kick her out. It also says that the woman told somone that she was paid to participate in this fertility program. Perhaps it was some kind of fertility research program?? A single mom with 14 children under the age of 8, including 8 newborns. No doubt she is going to make it on her own. I saw a newsclip that showed her father saying that they were supporting the children. Certainly, it is possible that she might get kicked out. I hadn't heard about the fertility research program. Certainly, she might end up on public assistance. I just think that it isn't a forgone conclusion.
February 2, 200917 yr Perhaps not the doctor, but someone, just like when people try to adopt or foster a child, they do a background check to see that you are fit to be a parent, capable of providing for the child and taking good care of them. The same should be done in this situation as well in my opinion. Would you say the same if she was married?

February 2, 200917 yr Would you say the same if she was married? If her and her husband weren't suitable parents then yes. Like I said I think it should be treated just as though they were adopting, in that there should be a screening process.
February 2, 200917 yr I was going to get on here and retract my original post after learning more about the process which I must admit that I'm ignorant. After listening to a doctor this morning I have to lean towards the doctor being irresponsible. He claims that in vitro with twins is about max before you start worrying about the health of the babies and of the mother. One point I will disagree with is the socio-economic issue. If the mother is healthy and the pregnancy is viable the financial/marital status should not be a factor. Totally disagree...I guess every tax payer in the country shoulfd be happy to take care of these kids..Come on...:puke:

More of a drain on the taxpayers.

February 2, 200917 yr It's hard to believe that this woman is able to support all those kids and with there not being a "father" there will be no child support to help. That leaves the welfare system my tax dollars and yours. I work hard to support my children I sure as heck don't want to support some woman that has 14 kids by choice and her kids as well. I think that the stupid doctor that helped her out should also help support them. Not the tax payers.

From the article linked in the first post.... Her fertility doctor has not been identified. Her mother told the Los Angeles Times all the children came from the same sperm donor but she declined to identify him.
February 3, 200917 yr Pretty confusing story. I would really like to know all the facts. But I will not pay to know them. One question after reading all the posts here. Were these children conceived out of love or out of greed?
