The Professor Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Congrats to Coach Strange and his team. :thumb:
addout Posted January 30, 2009 Author Posted January 30, 2009 Congratulations to Pineville, you've earned the right to play the Elliott County/Whitfield Academy winner. Also, congrats for setting an All A record, your 37 points is the lowest winning score ever.
addout Posted January 30, 2009 Author Posted January 30, 2009 I never thought a game with such a low score could be so entertaining.

addout Posted January 30, 2009 Author Posted January 30, 2009 Do you think that 37 will hold up tomorrow v. Elliott Co.:isurrender: If Elliott County wins and I think they will, I'll go out on a limb and say No Way!
JokersWild24 Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Any anaylsis of the game? Did both teams just seem content to stall, poor shooting and sloppy play, or a combination of? I heard that Strange had 25, I'm guessing however Calvary tried to limit him was ineffective.
madman Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Congrats to Pineville. Sorry about having to go against Elliott County.
Mustang Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Tied at 4-4 after the first quarter, and 15-10 Pineville after a half. Calvary shot 12% from the field in the first half. Cougars went on a (or finished off) a 9-0 run and actually led 18-15 shortly after the half, and at one point led 31-23, before Pineville went on a run of their own re-taking the lead 32-31. Calvary led by a point, 36-35 with 9 seconds to play and the ball out of bounds under the Pineville basket while in the bonus. As I understood the play by play call, the Cougars threw long, missed a layup, then a stickback. Pineville went the length of the floor for the game-winning layup at the buzzer. Seems like a lot of action in 9 seconds, but I think that is what transpired. Tough loss for the Cougars, playing in their first-ever state tournament event. Good luck to Pineville against EC on Saturday.
Eta Rho Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Sounds like it was an offensive struggle. Congrats to Pineville on the win.

Way to go Pineville! Edited January 31, 2009 by STRIKE3 fixed quote
The Professor Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Do you think that 37 will hold up tomorrow v. Elliott Co.:isurrender: Pineville will play a respectable game, but they have a huge uphill battle.
Matlock Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Calvary Christian gave this one away in the last 9 seconds. The long pass led to a completely off balance layup attempt, which was missed and a contested put back attempt, also missed. No reason whatsoever to shoot either shot. They were up one and Pineville would have had to foul. Unexplainable. Neither team looked to score at all in this game and when they did shoot it, the results were very often not good.
