You make my point. They did not simply carry water for the leadership. I respect that. To suggest, however, that not one Republican found things they liked in the bill . . . again I am not buying it, pure partisanship.

 

Liking parts of the bill and not voting for it is too different things. The Republicans have said they liked parts of it but too much of it was loaded with pork. Even OBAMBA AGREED with that and called for the Dems in the House to remove two parts and they did.

 

Please explain to me why 50 million for NEA is needed in an economic stimulus bill?

Please explain to me why 50 million for renovating the Dept of Agriculture is needed for an economic stimulus? It might create jobs in the DC area but what does that do for the rest of the country?

And there are many more things in the bill like this.

 

I am for educational spending but I don't like it being loaded onto an economic stimulus package and when there is opposition to it, the Dems will pull out the Reps were against educational spending come next election. I don'[t like the political extortion that goes on and spending goes up.

 

It is wrong and all of us should be against it whether the programs are good or not. If they are good, let the spending bill for it stand on it's own merit.

It should NEVER be 'I won'. It should be 'We passed what is best for the country'. I don't think this pork laden plan is what is best, but that is the way you sell it, not a devisive statement like 'I won'.

 

The republicans in DC right now are much like a lame duck president, ... no power and no voice.

Again, our President is running his office like a campaign.

 

Its time for him to make the hard decisions, just like Bush did. These were hard decisions that made him unpopular. But at least he made his decisions and let them be known. Bush had to make some of the toughest desicions of any President up to JFK.

 

Now we have a guy who is saying "I won" to push his agenda. Ugh...
