January 30, 200917 yr Everyone, that I have seen talk about ALL have said that while it was a bit biting that it was certainly done in jest, but with a point, that he was the leader. He campaigned on this bailout program. He talked about since november, why is it a surprise to anyone. Those who voted for him expected it and believed that he would get it through, and he did. You know what's not a surprise? How egomaniacal he is.

What I think is a little childish is for the little republican lambs to simply vote no because their leaders "told" them to. They had no problem spending money when Bush was Pres. but since it is a dem. they have suddenly gotten principles. I don't buy it for a second. Pure partisanism.

It may be there, but I am not aware of it. I do not remember one Bush initiative that didn't have democrats voting for it. Right or wrong they voted independently of the party leaders, unlike the vote on the stimulus. So we are now going with "I know I am but what are you, argument", cool.

Ace, did you look at this stimulus package? No one should vote yes on this thing as it will NOT stimulate the economy. A no vote on the package as is the right way to vote.

That might be true, but I don't think that is why the rank and file voted against it. I think it was a part maneavure(manuvere, manure:jump:). Straight party line votes early in the process are not rare. I think it reflects an attitude against Pelosi more than Obama. Then again, maybe the republicans were better at scripting bi-partisan initiatives. In either case, to say democrats vote independently of their party leaders more than republicans is silly. They both toe the line when it comes down to it. That's just one of the problems in Washington.

To suggest, however, that not one Republican found things they liked in the bill . . . again I am not buying it, pure partisanship.
