Jonathan Ferguson joins 3000 point club

Featured Replies

Upon further review, it looks like the game that he scored his 2,000th in put EC at 17-1 on the season; meaning they only played another 12 games last year after he scored his 2,000th. Add that to the 18 games EC played in this year when he supposedly got his 3,000th, and it looks like he scored 1,000 points in 30 games - an average of 33 ppg. Again, maybe it's just me, but it seems like there are some numerical inaccuracies. Anybody know where I am wrong?

If I remember correctly on the preview of the Daily Independant Rick May's was quoted as saying he had over 2500 coming into this year. They have played 18 games and he is averging 26.1 this year. If my caculator is correct it says he has scored 470 points this year.

The 470 number is accurate, as far as I can tell. But the 2,500 coming into this year has to be wrong - he scored his 2,000th in the 18th game of the year last year. For him to have 2,500 coming into this year, that would mean he scored 500 in 12 games - 41 ppg!

Congrats to Mr. Ferguson. That is a tremendous accomplishment and hard to believe. I would have personally thought that he was too good of a basketball player to land at Morehead. I would think that some larger programs could use a shooter with his abilities. I mean, look at what Sloan's done at UK this year. Earned some playing time as a walk-on true freshman. A player that can flat fill it up like Ferg is always in high demand. Congrats again to him, his proud family and the Elliott fans who have witnessed all those buckets.

Ferg is a 6'1 forward...

He'll land at a D1-AA school at best. No way he's too good for Morehead. That's just silly.

There's a lot of kids with more size who are more versatile than Ferg that can fill it up just as well. This is the reason he'll likely land at a D2 school. D1 talent, but just doesn't have the size.

Hmm...I think you might be on to something....

Congratulations Jonathan on accomplishing such a great feat.

I wouldn't. If I was Ferg , I'd sign in a minute. A 6'1" forward playing D1 ball. That would be pretty impressive.

You and I both know he won't play forward in college. :ohbrother:

I am very good friends with Mr. Ferguson. He is out of town and I am sure he will be glad to clear this up when he gets back.

I am sure he braved it to Richmond.

First of all, this is supposed to be a congrats thread to Ferguson for scoring his 3,000th point. That is a big accomplishment and deserves a thread of its own. This shouldn't turn into a where can he play next season thread. Just my opinion.

Secondly, did you not make this statement earlier in the thread:

As far as MSU not recruiting him, I'm very surprised at that as well considering how close he is to campus and the crowds that he'd draw, on top of being a great athlete.

What has changed since you made that post? You are surprised that D1 MSU isn't recruiting him, but now he'll go D1-AA at best? He'll likely end up at a D2 school? I guess you changed your evaluation overnight?

I was surprised Morehead wasn't recruiting him because of how close he is to campus, which means recruiters should have had plenty of chances to check him out, but yet they were recruiting Riley of Holmes who's 2 hours away from them. I was never trying to take away from the kid's accomplishments. I've said over and over that Ferg was the most impressive on that EC team.

My post was in reply to a post where someone said "he's too good to play at Morehead" which is VERY innacurate and honestly disrespectful to their program.

Re read my post. I said Ferg was a D1 talent but his size probably would keep him from playing D1 which is the reason he'd likely end up at a D2 school or D1-AA at best, which Morehead is.

There is no 1-AA in basketball.

There is no 1-AA in basketball.

I know that. I was referring to the small D1 schools that used to be considered D1-AA in football...such as Morehead.

I wouldn't put Morehead in a group like that but that's just me.

Congrats again to Ferguson!

3000 points in High School is a Great accomplishment

Congrats again to Ferguson!:ylsuper::dancingpa:dancingpa:dancingpa:dancingpa:thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb:
