The kids don't have to have one. If they want it the parents can buy them or they can work and get it themselves. No gimmes at Trinity.

The seniors get to "roast" the coaches and also publicly state how they feel about the staff and each other. It's an "open mic".:thumb:

 

The state champ patches are nice, same material as varsity letters. The championship game posters are donated by a supporter and they are always very well done and greatly appreciated.

 

Frosh have their own highlight DVD for $10.00. I was assured footage from all ten games is included.:popcorn:

I'm not sure why you would think that, but I'll explain from my point of view why I don't think that would be prudent. Trinity is a private school, of course, and the primary focus of funds is for the education of the students. It would be imprudent to spend such an exorbitant amount of money from school funds for rings for the football team. As a former parent of a player who has one of those rings, it was a privilage to buy the ring for him. And he values it highly, despite the fact that the school didn't buy it for him. I don't think there's a parent/player who's ever bought one that was upset that they had to pay for it themselves. And for some parents who have more than one son playing, and those who have sons who've won 3 or more, it's definitely quite expensive. But, in all the years I've been around the program, I've never heard anyone complain.

Sorry I wasn't trying to upset anyone, I was just expressing my opinion about them. To me it cost the parents enough money in team fees and spirit wear for their boys just to play . And they put alot of hard work and sacrifice so much all year to play and I just feel the program or school should show them respect and appreciation by providing them for your fine yuong gentlemen. I know it is a honor for you parents to get them for them ,and you should be commended for doing so , but this is just my opinion that is all. Sorry if I offended anyone.

I heard Beechwood boosters pay for their rings. Highlands parent's fork over for theirs. The key here is that they get a ring!

I'm not offended, just explaining. I don't think that the programs or schools owe the boys respect or appreciation above honoring them at the banquet or the pep rallies, or post-celebrations. The boys do feel it's an honor to represent their school, and they take that as a sense of responsibility. One of the compulsions of the school as a whole is that in whatever you do, you strive for excellence, and you represent your school well. When the team brings back a Championship, it's not that no one respects that, or appreciates that. But, the football team is not the only entity in which success is expected. I don't know if I'm making sense, but in a nutshell, it's appreciated, it's respected, but not any more than success by the French Scrabble Club. And, again, the overall mission of the school is to educate all students, not just the football players. An expenditure of the magnituded it would be to buy all players/managers/coaches rings would be astronomical.

I agree RM. At 250 bucks a pop (being generous) times 120 players, that's 30000 dollars. Not many h.s. athletic programs could/would foot that bill, not even the all rich and powerful Trinity!:lol:

I'll say it again , I am not trying to make anyone mad , it is just my opinion!

I understand that would be a big expense for any school public or private.

But they might be able to use some of the money from gates to maybe offset the cost . I imagine all of your home games were sold, so maybe a small portion could be used to help out in the cost.
