January 20, 200917 yr PLEASE - don't anyone wait until they are faced with death - like I was - before you try to quit. In a few days it will be 9 mionths since I smoked!!!!!!! Good Luck!
January 20, 200917 yr Be strong, brother. It does get easier as it goes along. March will mark five years for me since I quit. :thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb: The fourth day was the worst for me, mostly because I was in the car all day long, and that was almost an automatic for me to light one up as soon as I would get in the car. Toothpicks seemed to help a lot. I use to keep coffee stir straws in truck and on my desk at work. You can take out a lot of frustration on one of those.
January 20, 200917 yr Has anyone tried any of the smoking cessation drugs - wellbutrin, zyban, etc.? Curious if those help.
January 20, 200917 yr Author How you feeling today? Hang in there sport, I feel your pain... Still hanging in there man. It's not the agitation that is bothering me. It's how shaky I feel. I made it through my school day. Still haven't smoked one. Are cigars that unhealthy ? I think a cigar on a long car ride could really help things out, not inhaling of course.
January 20, 200917 yr Author Has anyone tried any of the smoking cessation drugs - wellbutrin, zyban, etc.? Curious if those help. I tried one once and it did very little for me. One of the side effects was that it could make me short tempered. That along with not smoking did exactly that. I was unbearable to be around. A complete jerk. It honestly wasn't worth it.
January 20, 200917 yr In June, it will be 6 years since I quit. The first 2 weeks was the hardest. The patches were a HUGE help to me. Stay with it, it will get easier! Great to see you quit!!! :thumb:
January 20, 200917 yr Just think about how much healthier you will be if you stick with this. Don't give up...
January 21, 200917 yr Author Day 2 was a success, 0 smokes :dancingpa It was amazing how good (health wise) I felt this morning. I haven't woke up without a burning chest or coughing stuff up in years. I'm committed at this point. I think I finally have kicked the habit and I couldn't be more happy.
January 21, 200917 yr Hang in there sport! Two days is great although it will take many more to overcome the nasty habit.
January 26, 200917 yr Sooooo how's it going? Today is the day I decided to make some progress with my New Years resolution to quit smoking. I have been down from a pack a day to around 5 cigarettes a day since New Years. Today I decided to see if I'm able to just quit cold turkey. I woke up at 7:30 this morning and haven't had one yet. That may not sounds that difficult to some of you, but for me, the early morning cigarette is by far the hardest to give up. I threw away the pack I had last night, I wanted to make sure that I didn't have any to tempt me today. This combined with the diet I'm on has me shaky and mad at the world right now :madman:
January 26, 200917 yr Author Sooooo how's it going? Today makes exactly one week. I drank Saturday night and had 3 cigarettes. That sounds bad but I honestly used to smoke a pack when I drank. That's a drastic improvement for me. Other than Saturday I haven't had 1 single smoke. I've made a lot of progress on getting more healthy lately. I'm losing weight and getting back in the gym. Not smoking is just the icing on the cake. It's amazing how much cleaner my lungs already feel. Thanks again for all the support guys :thumb:
January 26, 200917 yr Keep up the good work. Next time you have something to drink, smoke less than three.:thumb:
