This is very,very funny and a bit troublesome, but the entire team was at the Mason County/Lexington Catholic game tonight. Would be very upset if from Flemingsburg and knew this. A Mason County game, are you kidding me? If nothing else they should be practicing, but going to Mason County when you were supposed to be playing a game

 

Fleming County had already had practice that day and maybe the kids were just looking for something to do on a friday night since there game had already been cancelled which was something they had no control over.

Is it really any of our business what these teenage boys do with their "free" time away from basketball? I for one am glad that they were at a basketball game, as opposed to the other horrible things they could be doing.

100 % agree as well! :thumb: I'm sure there is not alot to do in Elliott Co. on a Friday night and I guess the legions of fans were having withdrawl. Some of the reasoning and opinions are bordering on pathetic. Especially the ones degrading players who decided to take in a high school ballgame instead of ripping and running. Like coach Frasure said tonight on the radio, who wouldn't want a chance to play one of the top ranked teams in the state. Win or lose (99.9 % lose) It's not everyday you get a chance to do that and see how you stack up. The game will be made up and the decision was made by the super and the director of transportation not the players or coaches. School was called off in Fleming Friday and evidently they thought it was not appropriate to send a bus to Sandy Hook in 0 degree weather, no big deal. PATHETIC.

That's fine and dandy. Every school has it's cycles. Remember back in 1998 & 1999 when FC was still part of the 10th region? They were an incredibly athletic and talented team - going to the Sweet 16 both years.

 

In 1998 Fleming defeated Mason 60-45, and

Elliott County boasted a record of 6-17 with losses to everyone in their current district.

 

In 1999 Fleming defeated Mason in District play Mason 72-69, while Elliott boasted a record of 12-11, with losses to Wolfe, East, West, Russell, Raceland, Fairview, Rowan, and Lewis.

 

Point being - everything happens in cycles.

 

Yes, Elliott County's current group of boys are wonderful athletes - but they won't be in high school forever.

Okay, so I'm understanding that it was too cold to go to Elliott Co.on a bus to play ball, but it wasn't too cold to have practice at school and then the boys drive to Maysville in cars to watch a game. For goodness sake they would have been playing in a nice warm gym, not out on the football field. Evidently, Fleming Co decided that it was in their best interest not to play this game. There were a lot of schools that took Friday off because of the cold weather but most played their games on Friday night.

Scouting??? If they come to Mason County games all of the time like has been said on here, maybe just infatuated. Just using this as an example, but know the the whole Bracken County basketball team and coaches don't go watch Augusta games all of the time or at all for that matter. Maybe the coach or assitant would scout or get tapes from another coach. If I was a high school kid playing basketball the very last place I would be would be at a gym watching a supposed rival play a game unless it was in the regional or state tournament, forget the cancellation with Elliott County.

 

In the past I have seen Chris Lofton at Fleming County games when the Royals werent playing. I would think that if you wanted to be the best you could be, you would want to be in a gym all the time. And he was pretty darn good.
