Well, my dog barks anytime someone steps foot near my house. He has ears you wouldnt believe so I would think that would atleast send them to my neighbor's house. I knew that mutt was good for something. : )

We received a citizen alert about this today. This was the text of the alert:

 

 

Since the beginning of the year there has been an increased activity of attempted theft and thefts from vehicles in South Fort Thomas near Tower Place, Von Zuben and Brentwood. One resident of Brentwood reported that a neighbor had their vehicles entered and rummaged through. These are occurring late night, especially on weekends.

 

The City has experienced five burglaries, four of them being residential burglaries during the month of January 2009. Various items, including flat screen TV’s, Wii Systems, jewelry, cash and computer systems and games were removed from the homes. Two entries were no force and two were forced entry with a front door and side door kicked in. The burglaries appear to be during work/daytime hours. Neighborhood canvasses have produced negative results. Property has been taken into evidence and latent fingerprints have been lifted at three locations.

 

There are other jurisdictions, such as Boone County and Cincinnati, that are experiencing similar burglaries that have similar MO’s. So all of these may or may not be related. The information is being posted on SWOPIntel, so there is information sharing going on.

 

Some crime prevention tips: always lock the doors to your home, utilize an alarm system if you have one, and call police (859-292-3622) if you see anything suspicious at home or your neighbor’s home.

 

Lock your vehicle's doors when ever you park it. Regardless if it is in your driveway, on the street or in a parking lot. Even if your doors are locked do not leave items in the vehicle.

 

An ounce of prevention can deter you from becoming a victim.

Ha, they do that at my house they are in for a surprise. Just because I don't answer the door doesn't mean I'm not at home. If someone is at my door they are usually dropping something off and they can leave it if I don't answer. Same for the UPS guy. If you didn't call me first, oh well, I probably won't answer if I don't know you are coming over. Trust me, there isn't much in my house they are going to want anyway, but it will be alot of fun torturing them if they do come in uninvited.:banana:

That's my neighbor. She left the doors unlocked and I guess all they got was a portable CD player. Evidently they missed the 20 dollars in quarters laying out right in front of them.

I received a phone message from the Louisville Metro police dept. that there has been a number of break- ins in the east end. The break- ins are in the middle of the night, they look in kitchen windows, if they spot a purse or wallet on the counter they break in. We have been advised to keep back lights on and hide all valuables from view. Kind of scary makes you want to consider buying a pistol and we live in a great area.

Exactly...our two 90+ pound beasts need something to warm them up on these cold days. If thats not enough...well, we wont even go into that!

I have lived on West Villa in Ft. Thomas for probably 10 years and NEVER had problems with this kind of stuff.

 

If someone ever decides to come in my home uninvited though, I've got a thing or two waiting for them and they'll wish they never chose my home to come in to.
