Burglaries in Fort Thomas

Featured Replies

Sources tell me that there have been 4 burglaries in Ft. Thomas in past two weeks, in fact one right up the street from me. These are occurring in broad daylight when owners are not at home. The one up the street they went in through the front door. Its that time of year folks, keep everything locked and look out for your neighbors.

Im curious if other parts of the area or state are having similiar issues.

Nothing like this in Florence as of yesterday.

Our neighbors van got its back window busted out 2 days ago...scares me anymore.

Apparently they are pulling up in a truck of some sort I heard and knocking on doors, looking in picture windows, probably acting like delivery people, etc. When nobody answers they kick it in or bust out front window on doors and go in. Just brazen drug addicts is all I can think of when I hear this stuff.

Fort Wright is having a big problem. We are having 2 town meetings with the police. Even if you lock your car, people are leaving purses, computer's etc in the car. Today a resident left the door to the house unlocked and found the thief in the house when they returned. The thief ran out without anything though. Alot of NKY cities are near the interstate and the thieves can grab and go. The police suggest to leave on a front or rear porch light and keep vehicles locked. Take ANYTHING of value out of your car. If you here your dog bark at night look out the window and see anything suspicious call the police.

Ha, they do that at my house they are in for a surprise. Just because I don't answer the door doesn't mean I'm not at home. If someone is at my door they are usually dropping something off and they can leave it if I don't answer. Same for the UPS guy. If you didn't call me first, oh well, I probably won't answer if I don't know you are coming over. Trust me, there isn't much in my house they are going to want anyway, but it will be alot of fun torturing them if they do come in uninvited.

Just make sure you have LN's AK - 47 locked and loaded. :flame:

Hello intruder, meet my dog.

Same deal in Glasgow... Except there have been Arson Fires. About 11 in the last 2 weeks... They've been setting things on fire from Trashcans to Garages... Not cool at all.

Hello intruder, meet my dog.

Hello intruder, meet my .45....

I have double barrel surprise for anyone who tries to come in my house at night...I "double" dog dare u to try....

Truthfully tho I am about 100 yards down the street from the police department I doubt they're that dumb...

We received a citizen alert about this today. This was the text of the alert:

Since the beginning of the year there has been an increased activity of attempted theft and thefts from vehicles in South Fort Thomas near Tower Place, Von Zuben and Brentwood. One resident of Brentwood reported that a neighbor had their vehicles entered and rummaged through. These are occurring late night, especially on weekends.

The City has experienced five burglaries, four of them being residential burglaries during the month of January 2009. Various items, including flat screen TV’s, Wii Systems, jewelry, cash and computer systems and games were removed from the homes. Two entries were no force and two were forced entry with a front door and side door kicked in. The burglaries appear to be during work/daytime hours. Neighborhood canvasses have produced negative results. Property has been taken into evidence and latent fingerprints have been lifted at three locations.

There are other jurisdictions, such as Boone County and Cincinnati, that are experiencing similar burglaries that have similar MO’s. So all of these may or may not be related. The information is being posted on SWOPIntel, so there is information sharing going on.

Some crime prevention tips: always lock the doors to your home, utilize an alarm system if you have one, and call police (859-292-3622) if you see anything suspicious at home or your neighbor’s home.

Lock your vehicle's doors when ever you park it. Regardless if it is in your driveway, on the street or in a parking lot. Even if your doors are locked do not leave items in the vehicle.

An ounce of prevention can deter you from becoming a victim.

I disagree.

I'm sure there is a story about someone robbing a house directly across from a police station. I think you are giving these types of people too much credit!

I heard a story once about a guy that tried to hold up a police station.
